Siemens Gigaset 2420 tow line phone system

I have two line phone system, I use a regular land line thru att, I also have a voip line and have tried to get both to work on this system with no success. Does anyone know how to get working where both lines have dail tone. Each line will work fine when connected to line one (1), but connecting either to line two/aux port, get nothing in way of dail tone. Can anyone help, I hate to trash this system, have been very satisified with system for several years.

You need a single mail RJ11 cord that splits into two male RJ11 lines. The line input on the phone will handle both lines. Not sure what the aux port is used for. I am looking for my manual tomorrow.

Is the phone jack cord plugged into the jack?
If so, is the jack operational?
To check the jack, take a land line phone that is working at another jack and try it in the jack your fax is plugged into.
If the jack is operating ok is the wire from the jack to the fax in good condition?
Maybe try the one from the land line phone on it.
If you have already tried all of these things then there is a wealth of knowledge on this site.

Message Waiting Indicator (MWI) light stays on since VoIP
There maybe different MWI options available in the phone's set up menu on the base unit. If so, see if the different options perform differently. Your phones are probably set to "FSK" (frequency shift keying) for MWI but IIRC, U-Verse uses the "Stutter" option. Also, in addition to talking to the installer, call ATT tech support. If the problem is in the signalling they may now have programming options on their end to resolve it.

One handset is preregistered to the base. You had two. You indicated returning the pin to 0000. To do so, you must have entered a code to deregister the pin and go to factory defaults. Your best option is to call and let them walk you through a clearing and registration process if the above links does not suffice to the quick reference guide.

Need a master PIN
Hi,

To reset the Gigaset 2420 Pin
At "System Settings" in the Menu press *65# then press the Select button.
"System PIN Reset" will be displayed (if the PIN was not already the default).
The default PIN is 0000.

You may have the wrong or defective power supply. Or, that problem is common from getting a power surge and the unit will probably have to be sent in for repair, sorry.

Siemens Gigaset 2420 corded unit resets when calls received
OK, here's what happened. I had the same issue of the phone resetting when a call came in, I thought it was a power issue and through some testing it was not. Here's the fix...Menu \ system settings \ enter pin (if you haven't changed it it is 0000) scroll to factory default and reset. This fixed the problem somehow for me, make sure to write down any impotant messages because it will erase everyting (silly me). I hope this helps.

Line cut off problem
That is a common problem with this model, normally happens after a storm passes through. Unfortunately there is no easy fix for on site, it would need to be sent in for repair or replaced. You can google Siemens Cordless Repair to find service facilities.
