My F250 has the same problem on the driver's side. Can see that the handle bracket is ripped loose from the door frame--brazing will be required to fix it. Can't find the C clip on the window crank, though, so I can't get the inside panel all the way off the door. How does Ford fasten the manual window crank on 1994 pickups, and how do I get the window crank off without breaking something? My F250 has the same problem on the driver's side. Are you saying the inside door handle isnt snapped, but the door wont open by pulling on the inside door handle or is it the outside door handle thats not working??Both the inside and outside door handle has a spring and other components on the backside of the handle which cant really be seen unless you remove the whole door handle assembly. One of these components are most likely broken or the rod that attaches between each handle and the locking mechanism(part that locks into the door striker to keep the door closed and releases it too)might have come loose from the back of the handle. The outside handle is usually mounted to the door by pop rivets or bolts/nuts.The inside handle is usually mounted with screws, but it really depends on what kind of car youre driving.Youll probably have to remove the handle to inspect it for damage.Open the door and watch the locking mechanism for movement while youre pulling on the door handle. If it doesnt move when you pull on the handle, the handle is definitely broke or the rod has come loose from the back of the handle.
You would need to take the pannel off to get to the internal part of the mechanism. Something has broken or come apart in the opening mechanism. I'd let it go if considering replacing.
The outside door handle may be broken or may have become disconnected from the rod that allows the door to open. Sometimes the ther is a plastic clip that connects the rod to the door handle and could be broken any parts store will have replacement clips. Whatever the problem is, the door panel will have to be removed to be able to inspect the condition of the door handle and parts attaching to it.
Inside of the door there are rods that connect from your inside door handles to the the latch mechanism. The rods are connected to both the handle and the latch with plastic clips. To check you will have to remove the door panels and see if the rods are attached or if the plastic clips are broken or missing. The clips are a very cheap part to replace. Any local auto parts store should have them in stock. Also very easy to install. Hope this helps. Happy motoring.
The linkage system, from the door handle to the door latch, is disconnected somewhere, or broken. The door panel has to be removed, the linkage system have to be inspected, any the faulty part has to be replaced, and riconnect the linkage to the door handle and the door latch.
Door handle seems loose and not connected? Then the plastic clip broke inside the door. Take off the door panel, 3 screws, and door lock cap and plastic insert around inside door handle. pry around the bottom first, and go up, when you reach the top, pull up, please be carefull to not break any more plastic. you will see a squarish opening midway up the door toward the latch. reach in and pull a rod toward the opening. You see a broken piece of plastic on the tip? if so take it off and get the replacement part for it at an autoparts store, install the new one and your set. I have broke to many of these so i ended up bending the end of the rod and using a nut to hold it in.:]
linkage on inside of door has come undone. take off inside door panel and you will find a small rod that goes to the lock mechanism where the door closes opposite the hinges. follow the handle to the door lock.the nylon bushing may have broken.they are cheap to purchase at auto part stores.
