Turn tv on, it displays "Memorex" very quickly, then goes black. No buttons on remote nor TV work except power. I have the MLTD3222 which is same except DVD player on side. I can not change input because nothing displays when I push it. I had my cable box hooked up with HDMI, speakers turned off as sound was going optic output to receiver...I got sound but no picture. So I tried component, composite, etc. but nothing worked because I can not get TV to display input function to change input source. I have unplugged the TV and all that to try and get it back to out-of-the box settings, but it just displays Memorex real fast and that is it.\
After trying all kinds of input configurations, I finally got video two input to give me sound. Nothing gives me a picture. Video two (back panel) is the third input source from input menu per manual. I do not know why it is on that one. oringinally I had it as HMDI 2 when problem started (11th input source on menu).

I recently got this tv from somone because of this exact problem. I have found a solution that works for mine. You can check to see if it works for you also. What I did was take of the back cover. 3 screws (1 big one in the center and 2 little ones below it). Next look at the power board. If plugged in and turned on the red light on the power board should be lit up. If so your power board is fine. Next find the component that has 4 switches. I manually turned these on and turned the tv on and it worked! Has been working ever since!
This solution has worked for me so far. I must add that I was hesitant to move those switches (on SW1 of the power board), but once I did, the picture came back. However, after returning all 4 of the switches back to off, I still have a picture. This leads me to believe that there is a faulty component on the board (or within the device) that is "reset" by these switches. I'm certainly not a guru and I'm still tempted to spend the $66.51 plus shipping from Sears for a reconditioned updated replacement board. I guess I'll wait to see how long this fix lasts. Next time, Samsung, Sharp, Toshiba for sure.
Wat if there is no switches?
I see the 3 normally open switches of SW 1 on the circuit board there is no component soldered in place. Question is do I need to make 3 jumpers and attach to board or did your set have dip switches in this location?
where are these 4 switches at
Can't believe so many have the same problem. Where are the switches located? I have the back off and don't see "switches".
What's the solution if their are no switchs on SW1?
what is this component? I am not seeing anything with four switches.
where is this component with 4 switches located?
the component is a pink box on the bottom left corner of the supply power board. Near the box will be a red indicator light.
power supply board*
i don't see switches only sodder dots s1 s2 s3 and blank
I did the above and it did NOT work for me. Any more sugestions?
thank you jadehe but it did nit work read above
where are these switches???
Thanks for these instructions. I had same problem so I tried your fix. TV is on now and time will tell - as my screen wouldn't go black until TV was on for a few minutes....so I am now waiting for it to go black - or hopefully NOT!
well, it worked fine for exactly 23 minutes and went black (audio still works fine). Seems this didn't work for me :(

I am having the same problem... never happened before and I've had the TV for about 2 years. I tried unplugging it for about an hour and plugging back in, but not working. Will try it overnight and see what happens.... *sigh*
JADEHE'S Solution #2 was the correct fix...I would caution though that if you have limited mechanical abilities approach this with caution. There are many electrical transisters/diodes items exposed when you open the back covers of the TV so becareful not to damage them, but yes this was the fix. My thought is that this unit is very sensitive to power surges/lightning storms and these switches kick off ifon is sensed. Maybe a surge supressor at the outlet may prevent it from happening again, but those are just my thoughts based only my experience with electronics (which aint much)
Unfortunetly, I had already spent the $50.00 diagnostic fee at the TV Repair Shop and was told it was going to need new lamp power supply and that exceeded the cost of the unit itself. Beware of those type of diagnostic responses and above all have them put in writting what they found wrong and the part#'s required to fix it. You may find out that they are not exactly quick to offer that information but remember that is what you paid for. Hope this helped and we owe Jadehe a thank you as well for his post.
Where the heck do you get a z6 zener diode? [email protected]
Stupid morons make this jnk in China..JUNK!
Found Z6 zener diode shorted in power supply. It's a 6.2 volt zener.
Hope this helps

I have the same tv and the same exact problem.
My granddaughter did something with the remote and I have sound but no picture. I tried shutting off and nothing haooens. memorex flashes on screen then it goes to black with just sound??
No picture on Memorex MLTD3222 flat panel LCD only audio
MLTD3222 from target. 6 months old and same problem. I get sound but no video. memorex name flashes on startup so display should be working but no video after the memorex screen
same as others .
Same problem here, exactally as described above. Very frustrating, but after 30-45 minutes of POWER ON/POWER OFF, the picture eventually comes on.
I have the same TV with the same problem, is there something I can do to make it work again or do I have to return it for professional repair?
Same thing. This happened before and then a few days later the screen came back on. It is frustrating since you can't use the functions on the side of the tv when there is a blank screen. I also only had this tv for less than 6 months.
