You should have a humidistat that should shut it off when set to zero. if the water solenoid is stuck, water will keep coming out even when the system is not heating. all humdifiers will have a water line ran to them. yours is most likely a 1/4"copper line that runs from the water solenoid on the side or bottom of the humidifier to a saddle valve on one of your water lines. this saddle valve is usually installed very close to the water heater. follow the line to the valve and shut the water off. sometimes you have to loosed the nut on the water valve to get it to turn easily. do not loosend the nut more the 1/4 turn and then make sure you tighten it back down after shutting the water off.

We have an old Aprilaire humidifier (Manual adjust)and having problems trying to figure out how to shut it off-for the summer.

close the by pass air flow valve. shut off the water supply and finally flow the thermostat wire to the transformer or the controller and shut off or disconnect. Unit should be serviced before winter. Cell may need to be replaced

Water keeps running into humidifier even furnance blower is not

This sounds like, the 550 transformer is not connected to the blower motor power connection (in parallel)

I have a Aprilaire 550 Humidifier. The feed tube is cracked and leaking. How do I go about replacing it. When I use a wrench to remove the copper end, will water come pouring out?

Thanks for your question,
what you need is called an ( Ice maker kit ) any hardware store or appliance store should carry these, the copper tubing is 1/4 in, the kit comes with the service valve for turning on the water once installed, be careful, turning it on before the line is hooked will get ya soaked, it has compression fittings, make sure you dont cross thread the nuts when installing, you may have to shut the main water supply off to the house before doing this, the instructions are fairly easy to read, you can get 25ft - 100ft ice maker kits, you are going to need a tubing cutter and a cresent or box end wrench, and a big flat head screw driver, hope that help ya, lets us know, thanks again for the question,
