Have you tried booting with a windows cd, and then running a disk check?
SOURCE: i downgraded my Sony vaio
XP doesn't have many drivers as you have found out. You need a second computer that is on the Internet. Download Belarc to a USB drive and install it on the laptop. Belarc will tell you the names of the various devices so you can then attempt to find and download drivers.
This is not going to be an easy task since Sony does not provide XP drivers for this system. You'll have to google for them.
SOURCE: is there a site where i can download win dvd
Here is a link to all the drivers and software for your PC. choose your operating system.
windvd is second from the bottom.
To find out what you have for an OS right click my computer (or open my computer and right click a empty part in the folder window,.. your choice) and select properties. This will open your "system" properties window and give you info on your PC. (bookmark this page)

Here is a review of windvd

Read it if you use Windows 7.
It loads a bunch of junk from 2005 with it. Would not go on my PCs.
Here is a site (that I trust) with a list of free software to handle your burning tasks. some of these will be pretty good some others not so much.

If you are going to pay for windvd, ( hopefully you won't have to from your Sony driver site) in my opinion your money would be better spent on Nero.

I use Nero. Be careful if you do go with Nero, as there is alot of stuff that can be installed you may not need or want.
Also very careful to read and look for check boxes to opt out when downloading and installing any software these days, as toolbars/browsers and crapware love to move in and make themselves at home on your PC.
Let me know it this helped you or not.
