Clothes come out full of soap.
Stuck piece of wood in lid switch so that cycles could be monitored:
Machine fills, then agitator tries to move, but appears to jam, - electrical load increases when this happens, as apparent by a light on the same circuit dimming.
When selector switch is moved through cycle to next stage (drain) the machine drains, spins, rinses OK
Confusing part for me is the agitator spins on spin cycle, but not on wash cycle.
Is there a cog type thing in the agitator that could be jammed & if so, how can the agitator be removed
Thanks in advance
Brian
Agitator's don't spin on wash cycle.
I would suggest washing the clothes without soap until they rinse clear. If you have hard water, the soap will not easily rinse out of clothes, or off of you when you use soap to wash or shower.
Reduce the amount of soap you use in each wash if this is the case. It sounds like your washing machine is working right.
Does the tranny pulley turn freely both directions? If not, tranny problem. One direction should cause the agitator to agitate (wash cycle), the other direction should cause the tub and agitator to turn together (spin cycle).
Does the motor reverse directions between the wash cycle and the spin cycle? If yes, there is a problem in the tranny. If not, there is a problem in the motor.

This one spins with the basket
But will not agitate when it is supposed to be agitating
