While preheating the oven, we heard a pop sound, oven light went off and our breaker tripped. Result- oven does not work, there is some kind of code on the clock, but I cannot understand if they are letters, numbers or a combo. Burners appear to work, have not used them for fear of a fire.

The oven bake element has burnt out and needs replacing. Shut the power off to the range. Remove the element mounting screws located inside the oven above or below each end of the element. Carefully slide the element out, disconnect electrical wiring. Install new element.

You have a bad EOC electronic oven control unit, They are readily available from any parts house. They do not have instruction but are not difficult as it is just a few screws and swap out wire for wire. It may be a good idea to buy it from a vendor that allows returns of electrical items. Many do not allow returned electrical items. Please rate my answer and any comments are welcomed at least good ones:) Good Luck, Mastatech.
I appreciate your inquiry, Stephanie Givan!
From what you are describing it sounds like a possible short with your breaker box or issue with your terminal block within your Frigidaire range. I would recommend reaching out to a professional technician for a proper diagnosis to be completed. The technician will have the correct tools to check for any electrical issues within the range to make sure the correct component is being replaced. This will help avoid any unnecessary part purchases. -Matt
