Russell hobbs wisper quiet kettle

This is my 3rd kettle in 6 weeks due to leaking water from bottom of kettle and all around the element.I am keeping this one for 2 weeks to see if it seals on its own then taking it back.

    14 MARCH/2014 I HAVE A RHK10SC, 1.7-L AND MY PROBLEM IS WITH THE WATER WINDOW. AFTER CLEANING KETTLE W/VINEGAR & WATER THE BOTTOM OF THE WATER WINDOW AT THE BUTTOM OF THE WINDOW NOW LEAKS WATER FROM THE OUTSIDE. IS THERE ANYWAY OR ANYTHING I CAN USE TO STOP THE WATER LEAKING FROM THE OUTSIDE. THE WATER SURROUNDS THE BASE & I'M SCARED IT MIGHT CAUSE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM OR WORSE A FIRE. I DO WIPE OFF THE WATER OFF THE BASE BUT THIS IS A NUSIANCE EVERYTIME I WANT TO USE MY KETTLE. THE KETTLE IS ONLY 2 YRS OLD BOUGHT FRM COSTCO. PLS CAN U HELP MY KETTLE?TKS VERY MUCH S. RUSSELL HOBBS 18941 KETTLE has slow leak from the bottom of kettle.
They are pretty much a disposable item when they fail. You could try repairing with epoxy putty. Some bases can be screwed a bit tighter.

Russell hobbs kettle base won't turn on
Just pulled apart a Russell Hobbs Whisper Model 3090 cordless kettle which i have been using every day for a few years.
It was intermittent turning on.
I fixed that problem by bending one of the switch contacts on the inside just a little as it had burned away slightly and was only making contact sometimes.
When I put the bottom back on and tested it I noticed that the water had an electrical smell which was strange as I had never noticed it before.
I then pulled it apart again and noticed that one of the main wires from the switch to the element had the insulation melting so I replaced that wire and now there is no smell in the water.
To confirm the smell I held the old wire and insulation on a flame and that is definitely what the smell was. The smell was travelling UP the tube which takes steam down to the bimetallic strip to turn the kettle off and was contaminating the water in the kettle.

I bought the Russell Hobbs Whisper Kettle expecting it to boil quietly. Wrong. It is quite the opposite. Not sure if I can take it back due to "false advertising"??
Have you tried descaling the kettle? When scale builds up over the whisper quiet element, it reduces the effectiveness, and the kettle becomes noisy. Try 1 tablespoon of citric acid, fill the kettle to the max line, boil the kettle then leave for 10 minutes. Rinse and repeat if necessary.

I have a Russell Hobbs kettle which is now leaking. Can it be repaired. It is several years old but still works well.
The coils of Russel Hobbs outrun the shell jar for sure as the corrosion in the kettle would have caused the leak.
The best can be to get the kettle welded with metal, use gas welding to mend up the leak and use a good grinding tool to polish off the suface.
Wash and clean/scrub well to remove all flux /dirt before you use it.
Boil water three times to discard before you use it.
You can continue to use the Hobbs.
