ALTERNATE WAY TO TRANSFER PHOTOS AND VIDEOS TO A COMPUTER
If your photos and videos are stored on the memory card, then remove the memory card from the camera and insert it into an USB memory card reader. Connect this USB memory card reader and memory card into the USB port of your working computer. Your computer will see this as an USB Mass Storage Device or an external storage device; you can then open the folder on the memory card and copy the photos and to your computer. Memory card reader is a handy device and is inexpensive. You can copy photos from other cameras and you can also download photos off your memory card to someone else's computer without the need of installing any programs.

I have three different digital cameras. I use the scanner and camera wizard to download my pics.
The second option, if you use SD card with your camera, then you can get a USB 2.0 SD Memory Card Reader/Writer.

Can't download pics from polaroid digital camera to windows xp

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa.

Polaroid photomax se: how do I turn it on; where does the memory card go; is there an online users manual

There are four buttons on the top of the camera. Looking at the back of the camera and numbering them from left to right as 1,2,3,and 4, the on/off button is number 1. Your camera does not use a memory card...it only uses the internal memory of the camera. If you copy and paste this address into your browser, you can download a copy of the users manual. http://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&q=cache:3LhHQaK3CyAJ:www.polaroid.com/media/document/fun_640se_qs_rev1.pdf+Polaroid+PhotoMax+Fun+Flash+640SE&hl=en&gl=us&pid=bl&srcid=ADGEESg4CJIWWZoVuHmHEapV5-UBM-MHOqUpM1XIBSxkbZz93C5zd39b0T1KDt48oAACUUR3kCqeOtAzSzhaCVtsvFX8_8ptdYBJBSYRmEAlvwTpsRceIpo37wX7X0uU7ba-wsBvw2lI&sig=AHIEtbRESqAXcLS7AhgXMm-CFzcRt-Abng

HI,
you have to give a little more info.
On your camera and the computer.

Typically what you are describing is time out. Common if using bluetooth or incompatible software.

Windows NT4 and Windows 2000

Windows 2000 A new camera TWAIN driver (version 0.1) compatible with Windows 2000 is now available for download. The new TWAIN driver will allow photo transfer using most image viewing or editing programs that are TWAIN compatible. NOTE: In order for the version 0.1 driver to work correctly, the PhotoMAX software must also be compatible with Windows 2000. The PhotoMAX SE software originally included with the Fun! Flash 640 is not compatible with Windows 2000. If you use your camera and computer with the original PhotoMAX SE software, contact the Polaroid Parts Department for more information about purchasing a PhotoMAX software upgrade. Windows NT4 No TWAIN driver is available for use with Windows NT4.
