open motor shroud and inspect all connection on the motor control board see if all LED 's are lit except that light up when incline motor is moving up or down. then check the two connector coming from the drive motor to the board sometime over time the two connector will have a cold soldier I would move them to see any excessive movements of the pins then hit start and see if there is any belt movement. Last but not least unplug unit and check the motor brushes if they are less than 3/8 in in length replace them. Call them @ 1-800-335-4348 they under their parent corp. Johnson fitness.

Unplug the unit and pull the motor shroud off and check the compartment it like sound you have dirt and corrosion . If you have a multi meter I'd start checking from the outlet and work my way to the lower board to see if I have power, Your question about the motor casing the problem fine the 2 leads that come form the motor and goes to the board pull them off (after unplugging the unit) and stick the leads into the motor connectors put meter on dcv and have somebody get on the treadmill and with one foot start pushing the belt . You should see dcv being generated for the if that the case then the motor by all rights should be good I would suspect that lower board. Hope this sheds a little light on the problem. Good Luck!!

I will advice you try re-calibrate your treadmill, follow the procedure below to re-calibrate it,
Step 1 Stand on the side rails of the treadmill for safety purposes. Remove the safety key. Step 2 Press and hold the two incline buttons. The incline buttons are blue and on the left side of the display. Hold the up and down button simultaneously. Release the buttons when the display reads "Calibration."
Step 3 Press the green start button located either above or below the large, red stop button (depending on your model). Stay on the side rails as the treadmill belt begins to move. Both the speed and incline should go through their full range from lowest to highest, and then back down again.
Step 4 Repeat the process if the display does not read "Calibration Successful." Contact the business where you purchased your treadmill if repeating the calibration process does not result in a successful calibration.
