Hi, The Li-ion battery cahrging circuitary is some what complex. For most chargers, the charging procedure is divided into three main phases: ? Pre-charging phase ? Constant-current-charging phase ? Constant-voltage-charging phase In the Pre-charging phase, it utilizes low charging current to protect the battery. However,in most recharging situations, the charged batteries still have some voltage remaining, so the charger does not need to apply this action, and just passes it on to the next charging phase. The constant current and voltage charging phases are the main charging phase for recharging the batteries, where most of the charging energy is transformed into the battery. The maximum charging current for a battery depends on the battery?s rated capacity. For example, one battery rated 700 mAh usually can be charged at 350 mAh to 400mA, for faster charging effort. When the charged battery is Li-Ion, in the last charging procedure, the microcontroller normally maintains regular charging voltage while monitoring charging current to determine when the charging procedure should be completed. When the battery is fully charged, most of the electrical energy is converted to thermal energy, which can result in high battery temperature. In this case, the temperature monitoring function will be added for the solution. But since most Li-Ion batteries on the market also have an over-charging protection function, the temperature detect function is rarely used. So it is better to get your phone charging circuitary checked at a local store rather than to make a charger, coz both may cost you almost same. all the best my friend. regards sreejith

Desk top charger could work if you think the battery is still ok...the white spot next to the gold contacts on the battery indicate if the battery is dry. The safest solution is to try another battery to see if the phone is still ok

My device won't charge

This situation sometimes occurs when the batteries get overcharged. Use the phone for a day and then attempt to charge. If it still won't charge, remove the battery for about a minute. Then re-install the battery and attempt to charge. If that doesn't clear the problem, you may need to get a new battery.

I was on the phone with my BB Torch, then the battery ran out, i got back the next morning, tried to put it on charge, nothing happen, no red light, no indicator , nothing, tried the charge for few ghours...

Good Day, Try this first and let me know what happens later. Use something like a needle to scratch the terminals of the battery and put your ****** to the terminals to make it a little wet. Then put the battery back inside the phone without connecting the charger to the phone. Then after the red light comes on, connect the charger. If the red light doesn't come on, connect the charger and put the battery inside. Please don't hesitate to let me know what happens later. Thanks for using Fixya!

The battery is most likely at fault, though if a different battery still doesn't work, there's probably something else to blame.

Phone went through washing machine, has dried out but wouldnt charge

Ferg,
What a pity. Such a lovely phone gone down the drain, almost.
If it stayed in water for that long, at least 45 minutes, it must short circuited all its components. Even if one IC goes Nokia scraps the phone. And in your case you cant say how many.
Are you still hoping for a miracle. Well, recharge the battery. It will take a long time to show "charging" as the battery must have drained completely. After that follow the procedure in the link below.
Got Your phone Wet? - Save It Now.
And I too hope there is a miracle.
