I have a MacBook Pro. I updated my OS from 10.4 to 10.8. I read in a forum where I should delete original HP files and reinstall complete software and driver since I have jumped over a few OS versions. I downloaded the most current hp driver and software. I can print no problem, but I cannot scan. I am connected to the printer by USB. I have tried the three different ways to scan and the "scanner not available". I used to use an HP Device Manager for scanning prior to upgrading software and driver. I can scan to a mem stick and then shove in my laptop but that is a pain for sure. Help pls

I was able to get my 6110 to scan by downloading HP_Installer_PSC7100_v9.7beta.dmg . I saw this on XLR8YourMac for another HP multi-function and on a lark I decided to try it. During the installer it won't detect the 6110, but you are able to "Skip" to the next step until it's installed. Then, launch "HP All-in-One Device Chooser" and you will see the 6110 listed. After I choose it there, I was able to use "HP Scan Pro" with the 6110. I've not really tested the rest of the applications.

Check all connections. I suspect a losely connected cable that generates greater interference when scanning...
Try to unplug and re-plug all connectors.
You may have downloaded the incorrect driver. I would try using the driver directly from the manf. website. You can find the download here: DOWNLOAD
