That sounds like a faulty LCD panel tab. The only true fix is to replace the screen. This usually isn't cost effective.

Hi there! The panel may be in protection mode. The Inverter board is the most logical area to start after checking power supply Voltages.(5,6,24 and 13Volts). There may be coils on the Inverter Board which have bad soldering or faulty. Other than this it may be main board which controls switch on or off. If all else fails, refer to a repairer. Beware of High Current!!! Best Wishes and Good Luck, Jus004

If your Tv is in warranty or you have a cover plan, you need to return the Tv for repair or replacement.Your Tv sounds like it has a power supply fault.

HDMI input works ok. Hooked up external antenna. Did channel scan. It will only scan for analog channels. Has analog raster on screen. It has no information on menu page for digital channel scan.

do you have the air option in the scan menu see
http://tv.manualsonline.com/manuals/mfg/sanyo/dp42841.html
page 9 important fact cable digital gets wiped by air digital channels

You may be able to get around this via a digital hd tv decoder box and then have it on a hdmi input on the TV as a backup to the cable if you can't have both cable digital channels stored and aerial digital channels stored

Turns itself off after being on for a while, but after about 20 seconds it comes back on automatically. I have a LAVA preamped antenna hooked to it. Is it the antenna or the analog board?

Try to set it up with no antenna, just the cable or wire as an antenna for a broadcast station. If you can just get 1 station then you can find out if the TV is turning off or the LAVA antenna.

If it goes out and comes back on it could just as easily be the power board.

Don't open it up yourself, there are hazardous voltages even with the TV unplugged!

Screen goes black, still have audio

I first changed the 220uf capacitor with no luck. I flipped the BURN switch to on and the set has been working great for a week now. Daughter left it on for about 20 hours overnight with no problem. Anybody have an idea what those 4 tiny switches are for? I have heard these type of switches called "dip switches". They are tiny white switches in a yellow block on the lower left side of the upper circuit board. The top one was labled 40", the next one down was labled 46", the 3rd one was 4 letters "EW" something I think, and then the bottom one was labled "BURN".
