Either you have a safety switch tripped or a faulty circuit board. Test all of the limit and roll-out switches, they should all read closed with an ohm meter.

SOURCE: amana furnace

This is no doubt due to failure of the "hot surface ignitor". This device lights the main burners for your furnace, and they fail a lot. I strongly recommend the replacement should be done by a technician.

SOURCE: My Amana Gas Fired Air

If you can look into the viewing port and see if there is a light blinking write down how many times it blinks. Next remove the access panel from the furnace. On the wiring diagram, you will find a diagnostic code chart. Match up the blinking light to the chart and it will give you a starting point.

SOURCE: no power to ac indoor fan motor

sounds like you might have a bad control board. try putting a jumper wire on the control board low voltage terminals R and G your fan should come on and run if you have 120v power to fan motor. double check that you do have 120 leaving board and going to motor. if no 120 bad board if you do have 120 bad motor. if it is the board it likely has a bad blower relay which is common in amana models and goodman equipment.

Can not get fan on to turn on. All else fine. heat only furnace. No air conditioning...only air circulation.I used to set it on "Cool" and "Fan On"and get air to circulate. Do I need new thermostat?

Since you have two thermostats that operate the heating unit and the fan, and the fact that neither will turn the blower on, I would suspect the furnace/ air handler. Turn the thermostat to heat and see if the heat and the fan comes on, if it does operate normally in heat, the fan relay or the high speed on the blower is most likely the culprit. (If the furnace is equipped with a circuit board, the fan relay is integral to the board, if it an older furnace it has a separate fan relay). If it does not operate normally in the heating mode, verify power to the furnace, see if the flame comes on, if it does: the fan motor, circuit board or the fan relay are most likely the cause. hope this helps!

Hot Air Furnace - How to Troubleshoot the Blower

The furnace is hot and every once in a while the burner will come on for a short time and then go off again. But the blower that should be running to circulate the hot air from the furnace to the house is not working. How can you fix that? It really isn’t very hard.

It does not matter what the fuel of your hot air furnace is. If the blower is not circulating the air through the heater then you are not getting warm. The function of the blower is to move the heat from the heater to the space that need to be heated.

A few simple tests can tell you what your problem is. Do you have power going to the motor that runs the blower? If you have power going to the motor and it is very hot than maybe the blower wheel has come lose and it is stuck on something that is keeping it from turning. Try to turn the wheel to see if it is stuck. If the wheel is not hitting anything and just turns hard then the bearings of the motor are bad and the motor needs to be replaced. In some rare cases the motor has little tubes to the bearings and some oil can be worked into the bearings to free them up. This is a long a tedious process, but I have done it successfully a few times.

If the wheel is hitting something, then try to see if it can be fixed. Sometimes the set screw will just come lose from the shaft and repositioning the wheel and tightening the screw will fix the problem.

Sometimes power will be going to the motor and nothing at all is happening. Replacing the motor is then the only option. The worst case that happens and is one of the most common problems is for the hub of the blower wheel to brake off. This lets the inside of the wheel fall down on the motor shaft. The metal from the wheel will saw off the shaft of the motor rather quickly as it is spinning trying to run the blower. The result of this is a ruined wheel and motor.

This gives a brief overview of some of the many things that may happen to your blower in your hot air furnace. I have encountered many other things over the years, but these are the most common problems. It will give you a few things to look for if you are having problems. Be very careful because many times the edges of the metal pieces are very sharp. You can be cut very easily when checking or handling these parts. I know and have the scars to prove it! Do not be in a hurry and be safe.

Peerless Boiler - Turned off boiler to replace Circulator for the hot water. Turned furnace back on. Did not ignite. Tried to hit the reset button for 30 seconds and nothing happened. Furnace will

Did you bleed the air out of the pump. The boiler has a flow switch that has to make before it will let the boiler lite. Make sure you have all of the air out of the system and are pumping or flowing water and not air...Also check to see if you didn't happen to of tripped the limit it has a manual reset. Red Button on the front of limit.

My coleman evcon fan motor does not come on. I put the thermostat to on so the fan would run but it will not come on. The rest of the furnace runs properly.

Did you check to see if you have power or fuse blown? If it is a furnace/ air handler and you are comfortable with electricity. Turn
Power off, remove blower door. Find where thermostat wires come into the control board and remove them. If you can find a jumper wire or aligator clips, hook them between R and G. Put blower
door back on and turn on power,

Fan should come on right away, if it does you might have a thermostat problem. If nothing happens but you can hear it hum
or hear nothing at all. Then more than likely the capacitor is bad and or the motor is bad.

Furnace not firing up...thermostat said low battery ...installed new batteries. Green (LED) light indicating power to thermostat is off. Furnace still doesn't fire up.

1) Turn the fan to on and if it runs you know that you have line
voltage to furnace and 24volts to the thermostat.

2) You could turn the furnace off remove the doors and get to the
control board. If you can find the Thermostat wires on the board
mark and remove them. If you have a typical Furnace and you
have some electrical background put a jumper wire between
terminals R and W,put the doors back on-there is a door switch
that if the panel is not put back on-it will not run. Turn your power
back on.

3) The Blower motor may come on, the induced draft blower should
come on, the glow coil should glow, the gas valve open and the
burners should come on and the unit should run.

4) If all of this happens, then you have a thermostat problem or you
have bad thermostat wires.

5) If nothing happens then you don`t have power to the furnace or the
little fuse that protects the transformer is blown.

Good Luck

Furnace/air cond. blower motor is smoking

I recently installed a horizontal gas furnace. All the electrical and gas supply was done correctly for sure, but upon the trial run, some smoke was coming out the supply lines into the house. I used some flex duct tape to seal all ductwork for air leaks. I also used some inside the first box coming off the heat exchangers to seal the inside of the box for leaks. Could the tape be burning because its to close to the heat exchangers and smoking or is it because its because its brand new and the heat exchanges have to burn a while? Please help
