The color wheel if used may no longer be available from RCA. With the exact model number GOOGLE the model number with the words COLOR WHEEL after it and if I remember some of the wheels were rather expensive.
Sounds like the color wheel or lamp I would check the lamp first to insure thats its not broken as they can make a pop when they fail sometime (Breaking) then I would check the color wheel you will be able to tell if the color wheel arear has the noise coming from it. Do you hear any strange noises when the color is shifting? If so then the possibility is the color wheel is failing. The color wheel failing after a few years is not so uncommon. The unfortunate part is you would need RCA part number 212184 for the color wheel and it is no longer available. The complete light engine is the only thing that appears to be available and that part number is 261589. I would have a technician look at the TV to verify my findings.
