How do I remove vertical lines from my Mitsubishi 65 inch DLP?

There were white and black spots all over the screen of my TV. I had read previously on the web that this was caused by dirt on the mirrors. I removed the cover but the mirrors were clean. Believing the spots to be on the lamp, I removed the lamp. The lamp was also clean so I removed the engine assembly. Unable to find the cause I put the television back together. When I turned the TV back on I had two black horizontal lines of lost information and white vertical lines every inch across the TV. And the spots were still there even in the areas of lost information. I later found that the spots were caused by a bad DLP chip. What did I do to my television and how do I fix it?

SOURCE: getting white spots on my

Hi,all HDTV have boards that control vertical and horizontal output to their respective areas. They are connected to the screen by ribbon cables. If one of these boards fails all together, has a failed chip, a bad connection, or a bad ground somewhere it will result in a black line in the area of that board and also white spots.

A bad ribbon cable connection on the bottom will result in a vertical black bar though the screen. Many times resetting the connection will fix it, if the ribbon cable has been nicked there could be a severed connection. They an sometimes be fixed, but it is a pain. An yes I have done it, but the bar is gone. The same will happen if the chip that outputs to that area opens.

The connectors are the first place to look paying close attention to the cable, they are extremely delicate so great care must be taken if you decide to tinker with em, the usually have lift locks that release them.

Good luck.

SOURCE: My mitsubishi 65-inch dlp tv

It's either mirror hinge fatigue or dust on the inside.
Mirror hinge fatigue can be fixed by putting a solid color picture (white or gray works best from what I understand) on the display and letting it sit for 20 minutes.
If it's dust, someone is going to have to go in there and clean it out.
Also could be a defective micromirror device.
Try the first suggestion and if it doesn't work, you're going to need a technician to take a look at it.

Fix a lot of white spots on mit65dlp serial wd65737

The white spots are pixels that are burned out. They will just gradually get worse. You will need a new screen or just replace the whole TV. Probably buy a new one for what it will cost to get a new screen put in it.

I have white lines on my 65 in hd tv after changing dlp chip model # WD 65733

This is the reason I do not nor will our shop do this, considering cost of engine rebuild versus this not worth the trouble---only thing I can suggest is go over all you did to make sure no bad connection etc.

Wd 65 733 I have read the posts arounf the white spots on screen. I currently have just a small amount popping up. Looking for cheap price on parts and labor. Thx Will in atlanta, ga

normally white spots are whithin the screen. it is also called "panel". it is the most costly part in the tv. but one need to inspect the tv first before making sure it need to be replace. try to disconnect all cables inside the tv by opening the back cover & fix them again.

I have white and black spots on my 65in hd1080p what is it tv is on 2 years old

Hi, I have a mitsubishi 65" DLP model # 65733 that I bought in December 2007 brand new, about six months ago I started spoting white dots on my screen that started blinking and then became permanent, thinking is was dust I cleaned everything inside with compressed air without success.
The stars multiply daily to a point that it was intolerable to watch anything with all the white stars and a few black ones that showed up.
We called mitsubishi but got no where, I was out of warranty. (they still deny having a problem with their DLP's)

I had a service tech inspect the tv and was told it could run about $800 to $1000 to replace the light engine with refurbished parts with 90 day warranties.

Researching on line I came across a DLP chip that is compatible with several mitsubishi and samsung models, so I decided to chance it, and replace just the DMD chip before we trash the tv, it was unthinkable to pay $800 to repair a tv that we could buy now for under $900.
Thanks God the "gamble" paid out and the problem got solve with just $150 DLP chip in about 15 minutes of my time.
If you are not mechanically nor electronically inclined, I recommend you use a technician for the installation, but don't let anyone tell you you need to replace the whole light engine, it is a ripoff.
If your problem is just white or black dots on the screen that do not move.......this will solve your problem!!

P.S. Hope this will help you and for the record..... "I will never buy a mitsubishi product again".
