Repairing eMachines D620, power light, on button light, fan kicks in, hard drive spins up, but nothing on screen - stays black. No hard drive activity sounds. Memory checks out OK.

Problem turned out to be the hard drive. Removal of hard drive results in screen displaying emachines splash screen and POST messages and can go into BIOS setup. Putting drive back in results in no boot, nothing on screen - stays black, doesn't even show the splash screen.

Did the old "eraser trick" on the hard drive's contacts and reseated the drive. Magic - the system boots into Windows...

When this happened was the laptop overly hot? If the laptop's head got too high it could have shutdown to protect itself. It wouldn't boot until the heat had disparate. Sit you laptop aside for about 30 minutes and see if it will boot then. If it does you might want to check out a cool mat.

Pc wont shutdown to restart after windows updates

At this point you'll want to hard boot the computer and hope it completes when you power it back on.

Hold the power button down for 5-7 seconds and the computer should lose power. Leave it off for 30 seconds and then power it back on. It should resume the updating again.

Msi windpad suddenly shutdown

Overheating When the CPU overheats then it will shut down (i.e. thermal overload) and won't boot up again until it has cooled down. If this is the problem is not fixed then the CPU will eventually fail.
A faulty fan causes the problem or the fan and heat sink assembly are clogged with dust.
Check the CPU fan to see if it spins freely, if not replace the fan.
If the fan and heat sink is clogged with dust the remove the dust and make sure the vents are clear and dust free. Use a small brush and can of compressed air to do this.

I have a emachine e525 has been working great but suddenly it wont connect to the internet (this laptop connects great so i know there isnt a problem with the internet) i have tried everything but not sure...

Hi,

welcome to Fixya. Try the Fn+F2 combination. This will turn on/off the wireless network. You should see the wireless connection icon on your system tray. Just double click on it and connect to your specific network.

Hope this would help.:)

My emachine d620 laptop will not power on. the led light is green and the battery is charged. the power button is not working.

Hi. I would suggest that you powerdrain your computer might fix this. To powerdrain your computer you must remove first the battery and unplug the ac adapter then press and hold the power button for 20 seconds, after that you must place back the battery and plugin the ac adapter then turn on your computer. If this doesnt work try to powerdrain again the laptop then just use the ac adapter to turn on your computer and that is without the battery. Hope this helps.

Laptop wont boot up

Stay away from Emachines in the future. Pay another $100 and get a real computer.
1. check that nothing is in the CD-Rom drive and restart the computer.
2.Shut down the computer. Unplug the AC power. Remove the battery pack. Wait 2 minutes or until machine cools.
try powering on comp on battery alone, then try with AC power alone.

Computer keeps shutting down.

Do the fan's spin when you power the PC on? All of the fans should spin up for at least a second upon initial boot. The CPU fan and video fan (if you have an external card) will spin the entire time the PC is on and vary in speed depending on temperature.

Try booting the PC with the side of the case off and note and fans that aren't spinning. The temperature to shut off the CPU is really high. If the temperature is getting hot enough to do this, you should notice a failure in a fan right away.
