HD ready? I want to find out if my 50A50 really HD ready as we were told when we bought it. What needs to be done to complete the transformation? Tom

Thanks for the help. I feel better. I have cable and one of the local Stations already transmits in HD during the news and I can't see any difference while its on. Are you saying that I have to change the connections in the back to get HD?

If it is HD ready it will have HD component cable hookups. They are the red, blue, and green color coded hook up. You may also have RGB hookups which will look like a usb port. If you have any of these hook ups located on the TV then it is HD ready. If not then you were told false information. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Yes it is hd ready! if you have cable or sat you will need to connect to the blue/green/red conections on back of TV to get HD and if you are useing a antena you will need to buy a HD converter box (at any wall-mart for about $20.00. for cable and sat you must pay extra for a HD signal and the antenna will get free hd signels!

What do i need to make this tv a HD tv

Nothing can be done to transform an SD (non HD Ready) tv into a HD one. You would have to change practically everything apart the case, power source and tuner so it's simply impossible to do it.

Connected hdmi output from laptop to 720p hd ready tv. Picture great but no sound! Any ideas?

Basically I'd done everything right, as I thought I had, but something told me to use "system restore" and try again. I did, and everything worked. Thinking back, I'd recently downloaded an update for my my computer which included a sound upgrade. Job done; thanks anyway for this useful and helpful site.

I bought a Hitachi 57F500 rear projection TV.

hi you need to buy a hd cable box or rent? or satellite hd model that's the only way you can get a 1080i signal not 1080p cable or sat only broadcast in 720p that is equivalent to 1080i.

Surround Sound Installation

The Hitachi 50UX57B is a 50 inch standard projection TV with a standard screen. It is not HD ready. If you need it, I think I can download the owner's manual (in PDF format) from Hitachi and foward it to you.
