What does the DL error code mean?

The "Fdl" error code indicates a problem with the door latch assembly. The clicking sound you hear is the door latch attempting to latch. If it fails to latch, the wash cycle will not start and the error code and audible beep will occur. There should be a tech sheet inside the washer. It's usually located behind the bottom panel under the door, or along the inside of the casing on either the left or right hand side. The tech sheet will have a list of error codes, procedures on how to perform diagnostics, and troubleshooting hints. It's strongly recommended that you leave the tech sheet inside the washer, so you don't lose it.
Repairclinic.com carries the door latch for about $50 and is listed as item number 1094190.
Searspartsdirect carries it for slightly less for about $43 and lists it under the "Door and Latch Parts" as item number 7 (part #8181700).
If you go to my profile and click on "Tips and Tricks" I have a posting there on how to change the door latch on a front loader. It's a very simple repair that any Do-It-Yourselfer can accomplish.

If you were already experiencing the F11 error code and now experiencing the Fdl error, this more than likely is a failure of the Main Control Board. F11 is a serial communications error associated with the Main Control Board, while the Fdl error is either a failed Main Control Board and/or door latch. You can replace the door latch first to see if the error goes away, but I would almost bet you have a control board problem since you were already experiencing an intermittent error code associated to it. Let me know if you have any further questions.

SOURCE: error code of F and DL
"Fdl" is a door latch error code. This indicates that you have a failure of the door latch, the latch pin on the door, interconnecting wiring, or the Central Control Unit (CCU). A physcial inspection of the door latch should be done first to determine, if there is any physical damage to any of the latch components. Next, unplug the washer and remove the top panel of the washer by locating and loosening the three screws that hold the panel n place in the rear of the washer. With the screws removed, the panel will slide back then lift off. Perform a physical inspection of all the electrical connections on the latch and trace them to the CCU and do the same. Often, simply diconnecting each connector plug one at a time and reseating them can clear this problem. If you determine that you need to replace the door latch, the following link explains how:

If you need further assistance in troubleshooting this problem, there is a technical data sheet included with you washer. The tech sheet is located behind the bottom panel directly below the door. If not located behind the panel, it will be affixed to one of the interior cabinet walls. The sheet lists all the fault codes, diagnostics procedures and troubleshooting tips.
If the door latch checks out good, the CCU will require replacement.
