Our TV Guide system worked fine from the time we bought the tv until it was inturrupted by the installation of a HD cable box we used for the past 15 months (which brought in the Time Warner TV Guide.)
We recently discontinued the HD service & though it looks like all the set up questions are answered correctly, and we've waited the 24 hrs (several times), the clock is not the right time and the TV Guide still is not working. Hope you can help figure this one out!
In order to receive the TV's Guide system, the cable should be connected directly to the TV instead of the cable box if you are still using it.
How do you have the cable box connected to the TV?
You must have the cable connected to the ANT/Cable A IN input on the reciever.
2 Select “Tuner Setup”. ( / then ENTER)
3 Select “Clock”. ( / then ENTER)
4 Select “Time Zone”. ( / then ENTER)
5 Select a time zone for your area. ( / then ENTER
Let me know if this helps.

Btw, I’m available to help over the phone in case u need at https://www.6ya.com/expert/jason_77a19afa8d604dee
Check with the cable company, when you downgraded to basic cable you no longer recieve the digital information that the tv guide requires.
I have been through the manual many times and you seem to have everything connected correctly.
Without the digital cable box you are not recieving the signal required.
Let me know what the cable company says.

In times past that information was supplied by your PBS station. You would have to select that channel when setting up the guide. Some cable companies are blocking that info because they want their customer's to subscribe to their premium services. Try selecting that PBS station.
If you have not solved the problem yet, call the provider that sent you the cable box, and ask them how to set the TV Guide System using this receiver box.
Hi there
Make sure the time and date is correct, get the manual, Once you set up the TV Guide On Screen™ system it may
take up to 24 hours to begin to receive TV program listings.
Receipt of all eight days of listings may take up to one week
(see Screen 14). In the manual
Good luck
I would check, if there wld be diff. solution other than what the experts gave u, i wld post that.
Thnx.
Initial TV set up leads you to the Welcome screen.
Or press TV GUIDE to begin setup.
• The Welcome Screen lists features in the Guide.
• Press ENTER to display Screen
Screen 2: Enter ZIP or Postal Code
• If you selected USA in Screen 1, you see the ZIP Code screen.
• You input numbers by either
• pressing the number keys or
• pressing / to display a number, and then / to
move to another field.
• Press ENTER to display Screen 3.
Once you set up the TV Guide On Screen™ system it may
take up to 24 hours to begin to receive TV program listings.
Receipt of all eight days of listings may take up to one week
Once you start the setup procedure, you cannot return to the
previous screens. If you realize you entered incorrect
information, continue with setup. The last screen of the
procedure gives you the opportunity to correct any mistakes
before you exit setup.
The tv guide has nothing to do with your tv... it's the cable service and the cable box that are at issue.

Hello and welcome to FixYa!,
It sounds like the Manual is a Saviour in setting up the Guide!
Use the guide and scan for channels to use as a guide!
Hope this works, --P3NGYJ03

The hd service is what gives you the programming guide.i have hd on my tv and if i were on basic cable i would not have the programming guide anymore. i go throgh dish network for my services and it has the on screen programming since its all hd
Do you have an Over The Air (OTA) antenna connected? Tech 1819 is correct about the info for time coming from the local PBS station. But guide info I believe comes from the individual broadcaster. If your still getting signal via basic cable, what Ronnieh49 says makes sense. But, if you have an OTA antenna, you can get what the broadcasters send.
I am going to say that I bet the TV guide system in the Pioneer was temporary, or, somehow it was inactivated, and needs to be reactivated. But I bet it was short term and requires payment to somewhere. TV Guide can not afford to set-up a broadcast tower in every city all across the country for the Pioneer receiver to get the audio AND video information (unless the Pioneer is hooked to the internet somehow, and again, in which case I would think was a temporary free trial.).
You might look at an OTA if the wire is there and your close enough to broadcast stations. I am certain your TV has multiple input's for A/V signals, and the cable box would connect through HDMI or other means, and the OTA would connect through the 75 ohm coazial connector.

The only questions it asks in the set up is for our zip code and which cable is the input plugged into - I don't see any place to "select a PBS channel". I called Time Warner & they said to contact the TV manufacturer. I feel like something just isn't set right, like I'm overlooking something - I really don't think it's the TV (though I have been known to be wrong before . . .) Can someone who is familliar with this modle talk me through it & help troubleshoot this by phone?
We do not have a cable box now - just the tv(plasma display), the receiver, and a vcr, which we do not need to have involved (for recording purposes to the TV Guide feature).
The TV Guide On Screen System is a free, interactive on-screen television system that comes with the Pioneer System. It worked fine when we got the TV, and we were just subscribing to basic cable at the time. When we upgraded to the HD, we got Time Warner's TV Guide, which was different.
We do not have over the air antenna - we have standard cable
I appreciate your thoughts, but I'm quoting from the manual - the TV Guide system is a free interactive on-screen program guide with this TV. For more info see www.tvgos.com. It says the only thing it doesn't work with is with satellite service. I'm thinking the problem has to do withg the set up somehow, 'cause even the clock is wrong.
Thanks for your comments - I'll contact the cable company again to see if they can help. Meanwhile - if anyone has any other ideas, please let me know. Thanks -
Yes, that sounds very familiar - the zip code is correct, the cable in - ant"A" - no recording device associated with it - sounds simple enough, but we're getting no data, after several attempts & overnights with the TV off. Wish there was a Pioneer expert nearby to make a house call!
I have the same problem with my Pioneer PDP-5060HD. my TVGOS just stopped working last Thursday after working fine for 2 years. I have HD through Cox CT on CH A w/cablecard and Ant on CH B.
I have the same problem with my Pioneer PDP-4360HD. My TVGOS just stoppedworking last Thursday after working fine for 2 years. I have standard cable through Time Warner on Ch. B and OTA antenna on Ch A. Here is the response I received from my PBS affiliate in Kansas City
"Your viewer is right--TV Guide uses a small part of our digital streamto put out this digital guide. It's a remote box installed downstreamin our plant, so unless we're completely off the air, there's nothinghere that should be a problem. TV Guide reaches in over the internetand does all the work inside the box remotely. I went down and lookedat it with our chief tech guy and he says that it appears to befunctioning normally. Lights were on and green on the box, but afterthat, we wouldn't have any real idea for sure cause we don't haveaccess inside the box. That's about the extent of my knowledge on thisone. And remember, we're not really experiencing any digital transitionper se--we've been up and running digitally for some time. We aregoing through a serious transition in master control as we put in theequipment for automation, but that shouldn't hurt anything downstreamfor us."
I have had TV guide channel for about 22 months. Lost TV guide service about 2 or 3 weeks ago. Went through the setup about 10 times. Called cable one. They said not their problem. Called Best Buy, where I bought the system. They took me through the set up again. No help. I have a Pioneer PDP-5071HD television, a Yamaha DVD player (DV-S5950) and a Yamaha Receiver (RX-V461). Please help me!!!
