Why isn't my K100D Flash not working?

Hi,

please ensure that you've not used the camera for more than the advised amount of time by the manufacturer. Also, you can attempt to use the same brand/type of batteries as was including with your camera when you got it. Some manufacturers put internal fimware/software restrictions on their devices. For printers, this would be done for cartridges and in the case of your camera, it would be for batteries.

Lastly, I would check that your sd card isn't full before calling Pentax to refer you to a repair shop.

Thank you.

I have Pentax 100D and using Ni-MH battery. But battery is going empty very quickly after few photos

Sounds like, due to age, the batteries aren't able to hold their charge well anymore. I'd suggest picking up a new set of Ni-MH batteries.

New Pentax K100D Super, shutter does not work. Av -- flashing 688 under battery sign. Replaced new batteries did not resolve problem

I suspect dirty contacts on either lens or body. Clean contacts. Should alleviate problem. This happened to my K100d.

Camera locked

Put in new batteries. If you're using rechargeable batteries, they already have a lower voltage than regular batteries. If you don't have enough milliamps in the battery, it will show as low, no matter what the voltage is.

Pentax K100D will not power up

First make sure you are using fresh lithium batteries. These cameras indicate low batteries quite early on. Rechargeables even when freshly charged are marginal.

If the problem persists remove the batteries. Set the camera switch to the off position. Set the focus switch to manual. Wait at least a minute. Then replace the batteries and switch on again.

Operating with low batteries can confuse the firmware and it may be stuck in a low-battery loop. If this is the case this should reset the camera by allowing the electronics to power-down completely.

If this does not work you wiil have to contact pentax support.

Bad USB conection?

Hi,
I assume that you are using Win.XP,
- did you check; System Properties>Hardware>Device Manager
Is there anything like yellow exclamation etc, especially on the USB section?
- Is it BIOS USB function enabled? Maybe disabled by accidentally.
- You said nothing working through USB, all ports are same?
If this ocurred all of a sudden, than I think you have a software problem.
I have a K100d, its been seven months now and ~6500 photo. My USB cables&fittings are fine, I always using USB port to transfer photos, no problem at all.
I hope your problem will be solved in a short time.
Sincerely
