I recently bough a new battery thinking the problem was the battery but know even with the new one my camera still won't start, only a green light located next to the garbage button flashes but my camera won't start.

Sorry but that is just because the flash is recharging.. It turns the screen off so it can charge the flash faster.. No worries it works fine :)

had a similar issue with my Pentax, it would power on and power back off. Tried playing with it for a while and it never recovered. Chances are its time to replace it. These new electronics are jam packed with lots of mini moving parts and are prone to excessive wear over time. they're are no servicable parts inside them unfortunately. I would try ebay for a reasonable replacement camera.

I have the same problem and narrowed it down to my 18-55 lens. It wrks with y 200 mm lens but not the 55mm......so i am getting a new lens.

It means it has a bad battery since it recognizes power using a different power source. Replace the battery and it should work fine.
