There is a special tool required to turn the jet screws pt no. 530035560 the screws are marked L and H you need to turn the L screw only this will adjust the mixture at idle, anto clockwise will increase the mixture, the third screw on the carb is to increase the idle speed once the mixture is correct, this can be adjusted with a cross cut screw driver.

SOURCE: I would like to know how to adjust the carburator of McCulloch 3516 chainsaw 35cc/cm 46759-77

the carbuator has two 2 adjusting screws on it.one is high side and the other is low side.start by turnig them both in until they touch bottom.now turn them both out 1 1/2 turns.this should start and run saw.throttle saw up to full throttle and adjust high side in until you get the best RPM out of saw.do not adjust high side any less then 7/8 turn out from bottom.if you do you will burn saw up from to lean burn.once the high sie is set now adjust low side until the saw will idle by it's self.let me know if this helped you.......

Find the 2 screws. There will be a (h) high and (L) low. These are for hig rpms and low rpms. First tighten the screws. Then unscrew them about 1-1/4 turns. Then start the saw and let it warm up. Start with the high rpms first pull the trigger all the way then adjust the screw in 1/8 turns either way until it is running good at high rpms. Then work on the L rpms. Get the saw to idle then pull the trigger, there should not be any hesitation when going from L to H rpms. Just adjust the low same as the High. They have to work together so if the high is good and the low is not just right turn the h a small amount. If you have any more questions let me know

The tool you need is available from Randy's Engine Repair, on his E-Bay store. The price is about $10., plus $3. shipping. Phone for Randy's is (937) 927-5665. It is usually busy.
Ebay item number is: 390025452838. Buy it online. I got mine about a week after I ordered it.

Just changed the ring and now can't stop the chain from moving, Is there anything to check besides the carburator?

For the 455 Rancher.

First check the idle speed. It should be 2700 rpm. Clutch engages at around 3800 rpm. If the clutch is engaging below the 3800 then clutch springs need checking and replacing if needed.

If you can't get the idle speed down check for air leaks.

It is a 1997 husqvarna 51 idle is to high when i start it then warms up and wont idle at all

The carburator may need adjusting. If this doesn't correct the problem check the air filter then clean or replace it. If this doesn't correct the problem inspect the diaphragm for holes or if it has become hard. If so replace it. Otherwise the carburator may require rebuilding or replacing.

Can't set carb. on Husqvarna chainsaw.

Most chainsaws and small engines are 1.5 turns out.

You need to set the mixtures for the carburetor. You will find a Low and High adjustment screw. At idle turn the screw in or clockwise until the rps starts to decrease. Then start turning it out till you hit max idle rpms. Turn screw back in a quarter to half turn and it should be idling smoothly. Be careful here and get someone to hold saw if necessary but hold in throttle to full speed and do the same with high adjustment screw. turn it in till rpm starts to drop then back it out until you get to max rpm and it won't go any higher then turn it back in a half a turn.

Husqvarna 345 wont idle, let off the throttle and it dies promptly

it sounds like you need to adjust your idle screw. you should be able to turn it clockwise 1/2 to 1 full turn to make it idle correctly. let me know if you need any more help with this
