My presario 2200 brightness is not working

I can see my icons on the desktop if i really get close to the Screen.

1) put the laptop on a bed or a similar surface to close the air openings below
2) wait some time (15-30 min or 1hour) and let it get warm enough
3) restart.
it worked for mine. hope it works for you too.. the laptop seems stable and does not give any more beeps (for now).. good luck !

If your screen is dim but still displays everything then please check if the screen's brightness has not been accidentally reduced. If that is okay, then you have a damaged screen inverter and it needs to be changed. If the screen does not display at all, then you may have to change your screen.

No display of monitor screen

Does it appear as though the computer is booting into windows? If so, shine a bright light on the screen and see if you can see an image. If you can, it may be the inverter board. If you see no image at all usually it will be one of two things. Either a motherboard, or LCD is bad.

With all HP laptops the keyboard screws should be clearly marked, look close under the laptop for 2 icons that look like a keyboard, that should be them, just unscrew them and the keyboard should come away.

Lines running along the screen which are permanent

may be the problem cause is heating...
may be cpu fan not working or there is heavy dust on fan..
try to clean cpu fan....
