If you have a VCR with RCA inputs and coax (cable) output to TV, try plugging the DVD players RCA outputs (L/R audio, composite video) to VCR RCA inputs. Then select the DVD input on the VCR and it shoud play just as a the VCR does. If you don't have a VCR, an RF modulator might be needed, but a VCR would probably be cheaper.

Connect DVD player to TV red white and yellow wires

1. Connect the audio cables to the AUDIO OUT L (left - white) and R (right - red) jacks on the back of
your DVD Player, and to the corresponding Audio Input jacks on your TV.
2. Connect the video cable.
• Basic video connection
- Connect the video cable (yellow) to the VIDEO OUT jack on the back of
your DVD Player, and to the Video Input jack on your TV.
OR
•
S-Video
(optional) - If your TV has an S-Video Input jack, connect the S-Video cable to the
S-VIDEO OUT jack on the back of your DVD Player and to the S-Video jack on your TV. If your
TV doesn't have S-Video, use the basic video connection listed above.

Connecting the dvd player via a scart cable

If you select component in on the tv, this should give you a picture, using the current set up. As for audio, depending on the tv, have you used audio in on the tv, or audio out?
It sound obvious but I (even after 5 years+ of installing tv/vcr/dvd) still get caught out with input and out put.
I am unfamiliar with Sansui dvd, if it has a scart connection on the back then yes you can connect to a spare scart on the tv. If it has the single yellow phono for video and the red/white phonos for sound, you can buy a scart to phono lead and use that, not to confuse with the component(blue/green/purple) connections. You cuold also connect the yellow/red/white phono to the same on the tv front/side or rear if available.

I am trying to connect an akai dvd player to directv, please help

ruettab,

good day. to connect your any DVD player to any TV screen always remember this color code

from DVD back part:

yellow = video out

red/blue/green( in a row) = component video out ( this can only be used for screen with component video inputs)

Black = digital audio ( rarely use unless)
Red and white (in a row) = Audio output (left and right audio)

where to connect from TV screen.

Locate where A/V INPUTS (audio/video socket) from your TV screen, you can see it either at the BACK/SIDE or somtimes in FRONT of TV screen , having marked as "AV1"AV2"AV3' .

Once you found TV input, you must first have RCA cable (color code cable to connect player to screen) then connect the RCA cable at the back of your DVD player, simply follow color code

RCA yellow marked cable = DVD yellow socket
RCA RED and WHITE marked cable = DVD RED and white socket (second row for your player)

then connect the other end of the RCA cable to TV screen, first select which input where you gonna place the DVD player ( either AV1, Av2 or Av3 if do have multiple inputs)

once decided which INPUT to connect the player.
ex. if you select AV1 as input there would be 3socket on its row (yellow/red/white)

now connect the other end of RCA cable to the screen by following the same color code:

RCA yellow cable = TV screen A/V1 input yellow socket
RCA RED and White = TV screen A/V1 input red and white socket.

cheers,
mark

No audio when using VCR/DVD player

the first thing that you need to do is use the video cables and audio cables that are on the back of the unit. This makes sure that you have sound and video.

Can't get my DVD player to work...

Your GE TV most likely doesn't have anything but a antenna input on it? If that the case to connect a DVD player you must purchase a RF modulator to convert the video and audio output of a DVD player to a channel 3 or 4 output. Here is a link for one at Radio Shack.

RCA F25432 25in

If you ONLY have an Antenna or Cable input, you are going to need a Video & Audio to RF converter.. This connects to ya DVD Video & Sound OUT, and then connects to ya sets Antenna IN. This device converts ya Video & Audio signal to Radio Frequency Signal that can be "Received" by ya set. (Basically a low power TV transmitter) This is the only way I know of, if ya haven't got any other Inputs into a set.
