PS2 Half Green/Half Black Screen on powerup

I have had my PS2 for 3+ years now and have never had any problems with it up until now. I played an old game (Frequency) earlier today at about 3pm. Then just now at about 11pm my friend turned on the PS2 to play Guitar Hero and when it turned on there is a screen that is half black and half green. No noise, everything seems fine with the cables. Just wondering if anyone has encountered this before. I couldnt find any fixes for it while browsing so I figured id make a post.

I have had this happened when the PS2 has heated up my TV's color was going nuts. The color needed for the different games is sometimes too much. Let the TV rest for a while, then the TV, game should be fine.

PS3 is backwards compatible with PS2 games, and USED to play them

In Playstation Store, you should download (for free) the PS2 SYSTEM DATA (something like this).
if you have formated your system, the files were erased, and the games won't play until you download the backwards comparibility files again.

Chipped PS2 suddenly stopped reading

Hmmmmm...
That is strange how the boot-up sequence can change. When You bought it, it sounds like it got mod-chipped when you bought it. if are one on the techy side of life then you can open your ps2 and look for one (google mod chip). Also the chance of one being there is higher because it can play copied games. Even though you bought it with the copied games, 1) copied games are illegal, and , 2) PS2's shouldn't be able to play copied games cause it wasn.t designed too.

I hope i helped,

My PS2 won't play discs?

Does it show anything on your tv? does it even reach the screen that has the Memory card and or settings? or is it just a black screen.

Make sure the disc you are using is a PS2 or if a DvD make sure your PS2 is compatible.

If its a black screen im sorry but i think your ps2 is broken mine broke last year =/ than bought a new one lol

PS2 Console Problem

My ps2 actually did this for a long time. Either it "Died" as they say, or something is wrong with the internal part of the ps2. If you open it properly, there is a white gear you'll find. This keeps the cd, and a few other things on track. Turn this gear to the left 3-5 ticks. Close the ps2 and it should be fixed. If you have anymore problems post it please.
