Hi, is that the one where the battery case sits on the contacts, if so that is a area you need to look at as this has been a common fault area , the string contacts get weak so losing contact when being jolted etc.

yes the complete unit with batteries inside sit on gold plates like square springs, or was wondering if control box but wouldn't pay for that to be fixed because of its age and no idea how long the motor would list although running well at the moment

It may be because of old battery, try to change and see any improvement.

SOURCE: battery power on mobility scooter

The Hand Control has probably bent in from use. ( Where she Pushes the throttle Control )
Grab a hold of it and bend it out towards you slightly
The part about the indicator going down when she moves and back up when she stops is normal

SOURCE: I have purchased new batteries for my mobility

The control seems to be the issue. I have rewired so many scooters. When you have power and it wont go, it is usually the control. If you cannot afford the part right away, you can rewire it or have it rewired direct

SOURCE: Scooter stops intermittenly

Hi. Does the machine stop suddenly, or does it slowly stop as it normally would? Does this happen on hills or slopes?
A lot of scooters have a self-resetting circuit breaker connected to the battery leads. If the machine draws to much current ( amps ) then the circuit breaker trips out. After a few minutes the circuit breaker will reset and you can continue.
This could mean that the circuit breaker is faulty or that the motor is drawing to much current, or is burnt out.
Some machines have a very light duty circuit breaker, and these can trip out often. I have changed many of these circuit breakers for this reason.
Check all your battery leads are secure and tight.
If it is still a problem, get a serviceman to check the motor current is what it should be.
Good luck. Neil.

SOURCE: Hi My wife has a Golden Companion GC 221, has new

I would check all connections first. I would also see about the wiring harness, is it drawing power from somewhere when there is weight on it.
Is it giving any flash codes?
Or the dash may need to be replaced.

Hi, have a shoprider TE-889XL. Unit has new batteries and has had both the speed and throttle potentiometer replaced over the last 3 years to cure erratic throttle. Now with fully charged batteries it...

On older units this is a fairly common issue with loose, burned contacts at the battery terminal, battery harness plugs and circuit breaker. Check, clean and lube all the power connectors with a petroleum jelly. Don't use WD-40. Then retighten the connectors.
Another issue may be a bad key switch. Intermittent contacts can often be detected by wiggling the key when it starts acting up.

My scooter will not fully charge

This could be the charger socket is worn and not making a good connection when charging or it could be the charger itself at fault. Now you have changed the batteries, I presume new and both the same type, you need to look at the charging side.

Not charging flat batteries

hi, most mobility scooter charges will not attempt to charge below 10 volts,

the trick is to use a car battery charger to bring the voltage past 10 volts then you use the mobility scooter charger to fully charge.

However please be aware of a couple of points:

1. Car chargers will damage mobility scooter batteries.

2. Once a Gel or AGM battery voltage has dropped below 10 volts they may never fully hold the charge again if they do recover and that's a big if.

Battery charger indicating that batteries are fully charged, but battery meter on the scooter shows no power at all. also the lights, indicaters etc arent working, im presuming that is resulting from the...

With a Pride Scooter the charger will turn green if its fully charged and if there is a bad connection in the wiring with the batteries. If you plug in the charger and the light comes on green right away then there is a problem with the wiring or connections. Take a voltmeter and read the voltage at each battery. Fully charged they should be 13-15 volts each. If they are less than 12 volts then they are not charged and the charger is not working correctly. If the batteries are really low like less than 8 volts each then the scooter might not come on at all. If you find that the batteries have at least 12 volts or more then there is a wiring problem from the rear of the scooter to the front tiller. Pride has a habit of developing problems in the harness running from the rear to the tiller. My suggestion is to contact your provider (where you got the scooter) and have them troubleshoot the scooter. If the scooter is less than a year old then it should be under warranty and your provider will have to fix it under warranty. Sorry I don't have a quick fix for you but scooters are notoriously bad to troubleshoot and repair, especially long distance. Hope this helps you

Sounds like you need new batteries. This code indicates a low battery condition.
If you have a digital voltmeter measure the voltage of each battery. Above 13 volts is best, 12 volts indicates a 50% charge. The total voltage when you add the two batteries together needs to be above 17 volts for the electronics to work.
Batteries that sit for several months may not take a charge. You can try charging them separately with a car charger set to gel/deep cycle setting to bring the voltage up. Make sure they are disconnected from the scooter and do this only for a short time, keeping your eye on them. The batteries may be too old and the plates sulfated by sitting too long.
A new set of U-1 batteries is my best recommendation. They are available locally and on line at a discount. If you install them your self you could save over $100 on the labor cost alone.
To clear the code install the new batteries and turn the scooter off and on. The code will clear itself when you disconnect the batteries. Charge the new batteries fully before use. Hope this helps.

It may still be under warranty.  What kind of reading did you get from the batteries? If they are below 12.0 volts they may have a poor memory. If you leave a chair un-charged for a long period of time the batteries can discharge to a very low level. The charger cannot bring a battery up from 11 voltsDC. You will need a slow car type charger or new batteries.
