The gasket will have to be replaced. I've had customers with this problem and the only way to correct it is to replace the gasket

Leaking dishwasher

The rubber strip that the door connects with is crudded up with junk. Get rag and hot water in bucket. Open door. Look for rubber gasket shaped like an upsidedown U, the sise of the door. It wont be black in places because of all the build up of soap scum. Wash this off till it black again. Wash door where it meets this gasket.

Good Luck.

Step 1:
Remove the service panel that runs along the front of the dishwasher just below the door. If it is screwed in place, remove the screws with a screwdriver. If the panel hangs on hooks, pull the panel out and swing it up to remove it from the hooks.
Step 2:
Check the end of the drain hose that connects to the dishwasher. If it's leaking, tighten the clamp with a screwdriver.
Step 3:
Check the drain hose connection to the kitchen sink drain. Again, if it's leaking, tighten the clamp with a screwdriver.
Step 4:
221_a1.jpg Check for leaks around the water-inlet valve. If necessary, use an adjustable wrench to tighten the compression fitting that connects the water-supply line to the valve. If the fill hose is leaking, replace the spring clamp that is on the hose with a worm-drive hose clamp. It produces more clamping pressure. Use adjustable pliers to compress the spring clamp so you can pull the clamp and hose off the valve. Remove the spring clamp from the hose. Buy a worm-drive clamp at your hardware store, then install it and tighten it with a screwdriver.

Leveling the machine Step 1:
Remove the front access panel (see step 1, "Tightening the fittings"). This will give you access to the dishwasher's adjustable feet.
Step 2:
Open the door completely and remove the bottom dish rack.
Step 3:
Unscrew the dishwasher from the kitchen countertop so the dishwasher can move freely as you adjust the feet.
Step 4:
Check to see if the dishwasher is level side to side. Place a small level inside the dishwasher so it's sitting on the bottom pan and facing parallel to the front lip of the dishwasher. If the dishwasher is not level, use adjustable pliers to turn one of the dishwasher's front feet up or down until you hit level.
Step 5:
Check to see if the dishwasher is level front to back. Turn the level perpendicular to the door, and place it on one of the bottom ledges that run along the side of the cabinet. Check the level again. If the dishwasher isn't level, use your adjustable pliers to turn the back feet up or down until you hit level.
Step 6:
Reattach the dishwasher to the countertop and reinstall the front access panel.

Fixing a leaking door Step 1:
Inspect the door gasket. As it ages, the gasket can crack or become hard, preventing it from sealing completely.
Step 2:
If the gasket appears solid, adjust the door latch so the door seals tightly. Loosen the screw that holds the door latch to the cabinet. Push the latch in slightly and retighten the screw. Test the door and readjust the latch if necessary.
Step 3:
Replace the gasket if water continues to leak after you've tightened the latch. Most gaskets are held by compression in a groove on the door or on the dishwasher cabinet.
Step 4:
Pull the old gasket out of its groove, using adjustable pliers (see illustration). Take the gasket to an appliance store to get a replacement.
Step 5:
Soak the new gasket in warm water to soften it, then press it into the groove. Start at the top, then work your way down the sides and across the bottom.

Water leaks from door during last cycle

Sometimes residue builds up between the gasket ( rubber on the back of the door ) and the unit itself. With the door open clean the inside of the washer where the door touches it when closed, clean the gasket too.

When dishwashers aren't run frequently the gaskets can dryout and shrink, this creates a gap in the gasket and allows it to leak. New gaskets are available from your dishwasher manufacturer.

That gasket is supposed to look like that. Use less soap and/or replace that gasket. It is very easy to do but pay attention to how the old on is placed. There is a small notch that has to be placed right.

Seal on door came off where can I get a new one?

Replacement door gaskets can be purchased at any of the following websites:

searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com
repairclinic.com

The first three websites also have exploded view parts illustrations to assist you with locating and properly identifying any parts you may need. If the model is correct, the gasket is listed as item 3 under the "Tub and Frame" parts list on most of the parts listings. The part number will depend upon the model number. The model number you provided is not complete.

If you need instructions on how to replace most common dishwasher gaskets, the following link can give you some guidance:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3555822-my_dishwasher_leaks

Most dishwasher gaskets are the press in place variety. However, some require gluing in place with a special rubber cement. The glue will come with the installation kit.

If you have any questions, please post back with your complete model number (located around the door edge frame, or door opening). I hope you find this information helpful.

Melted rubber gasket, black rubber residue inside dishwasher I had a problem with the latch not connecting and therefore could not turn on the dishwasher. After, two months with Sears repairmen,...

that is because Sears highers nimrods. sorry for the honest answer but it is the truth. Just a tip any time you get a Sears tech in your home and the first thing they do is get on the phone with tech support it's a bad sign that they DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING.
I notice when there is that black substence inside it is because between the inside of the door they stick this rubber sticky thiing it'ss called a sound absorber and after time they dry up and fall between the door right into the dishwasher. this might be what is happening to you. The only thing that might help you is a heavy duty degresser and/or try 409 it works wonders. also you might want to take the door apart and check inside to see if it is crumbling. if it is remove it. it serves no functional purpose
Just curious did this happen after he repaired you door switch?
if yes this is more than likly what is happening
good luck i hope this helps

Rubber gasket displaced

This gasket is made of a firm but pliable material and is there to prevent small items from falling into the frame of the dryer. ( small clothing items and coins, etc.) If in good condition, it should be easy to push the drum gasket back onto the drum edge. May be possible just by opening the door and re inserting the gasket, or at the most loosening the front pane to get enough room. I once replaced a drum belt in 15 minutes flat and that required taking the top and front off. What you want to do is a lot less work.

Leak around bottom door gasket

No, you don't need to remove the door to replace the gasket. It is usually a pressure fit and will just push into the alloted space. Take notice of where the originial one begins and ends before removing it.

    Smeg Dishwasher - model unknown

model numbers for dishwashers are generally where you can get to from the front, if they are noit on the front panel then look inside the door rim where the rubber seal is, either a small sticker on the door rim itself (inside) or where the door fits on the main cabinet, open the door fully to look for this sticker, sometimes placed under the front of the lid
