SOURCE: whirlpool electric range burner power light stays on but no heat

Hello givemeanidth.
Welcome to Fixya

You said, have a Whirlpool electric range (model rf363pxpt0) with standalone burners - the burner power indicator light stays lit whether the heat control knob is on or off, there is no heat coming from the burner on or off. You pulled the burner from the receptacle and one of the tabs broke off and stayed in the receptacle. You removed the tab and made sure no pieces remained in the receptacle then bought a replacement burner, no change. You put the replacement burner in the back burner of the same size and had heat within 10 seconds. You changed out the burner with the one that had been in the back of the range, no heat. As long as the breaker to the range is on the power light stays lit but no power to that one burner only.

What is the model number and the age of your range?

Waiting for your reply.

SOURCE: Whirlpool Gold electric range control panel not working

I live in a new 500 home subdivision. The contractor ordered all Whirlpool Gold products including Electric and Electric/Gas Ranges. Many of my neighbors' panels have gone out! I'm talking about epedemic trouble. My son has had his oven panel (separate from stovetop) fail within the first year. Thank God it was under warranty...this is not a cheap replacement (he had the sensor touch pad. I just had my oven pad fail. I tried to set the clock for Daylight Savings and found out half my panel is out! The fix is a replacement of the panel. Depending on which model (push or sensor) look to spend at least a couple of hundred bucks. We have the Whirlpool Gold microwave panel and so far so good. My neighbor and my son's both went out! They just tossed the two year old products and replaced them with another brand. Sorry to break you the news...class action anyone?

SOURCE: Start Button Failed on Whirlpool Electric Range Model GY396LXPQ02

It sounds like you have an oven problem rather than a start button problem. Is there an error code? If so list your model and error code on a search engine and you will find error codes. Or you can just list make model number and error codes and you can find a chart of Whirlpool error codes. I have done this with no problem. That should tell you the exact problem and things to try.

It may be neither issue you mentioned. It could be a bad element or a short.

I have a Whirlpool Electric Range, Glass Top. The "cooktop on" light stays on even though all controls are off

Hello,

The problem is going to be one or more of the on light circuits on the burner control switchs is staying on all the time even when off. To check which one(s) it is gain access to the switches and check for contunuty on the wire terminals indicated in red circles. Their are 2 style switches, one the body is black and one the body is red and i have shown where to check on each style.
The first thing to do before accessing the switches it DISCONNECT POWER to unit oldtech2332_73.jpgoldtech2332_74.jpg

LIGHT STAYS ON FOR HOURS BUT THE TOP HAS COOLED

if its going out, its probably ok
its not a light indicating the burner is on, rather that the glass is abcove 100 degrees and still not safe to put something on
2 hours is a bit long but it depends on how fst the surface can cool of
you can test this by trying to cool it off faster with a fan ans see what happens
