SOURCE: Video card for Dell 531s

This computer uses a PCIe-16 slot, so any half-height dual-monitor card with DVI would do for you. The XFX Geforce 7200GS with 256MB memory has dvi and vgb outputs. It supports the resolution of your 20" Syncmaster, and is around $40 at Newegg.com at this time.

SOURCE: No microphone works

Hi,
I work for Dell and had the same problem.
Try this:
Take the card out of the PCI slot and reinstall it. Then go to the creative support website and download all the updated drviers for the card. ALSO, and this may sound blindly obviously but the soundblaster has many connections on it make sure you are plugging it into the correct connection and that you have enabled the soundblaster in the systems settings ie- turn the on board sound off.
Hope this works,
Rob

SOURCE: new sound card for HP d530 small form factor..

You just have to look for a "low-profile" PCI card. Creative makes one, Audigy SE SB0570LPVP

Search that for a vendor, or low-profile for other manufacturers.

SOURCE: Dell Optiplex GX270 Driver Questions

On the Audio driver question: the answer is yes the Audio driver is what allows you to have sound.

On the DVD software, I did not see any software on Dell link. Download Windows Media, newest version is ver.11
It will allow you to watch DVDs

You can also check this site:

SOURCE: I have a Gateway 300x

Most of these towers are vertical style, therefore the big button is just to the left of the Gateway symbol. Push it in and pull the left panel away from the case.

Dimensions

Dell Support > Dimension 8300 Desktop PC > Main Support Page,

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim8300/sm/index.htm

Left-click on - Technical Specifications - in the list.

Left-click on - Physical - in the list.

Height: How tall the computer tower is. Outside edge to outside edge measurement.
Width: How wide the computer tower is. Outside edge to outside edge measurement.
Depth: How long the computer tower is. Outside edge to outside edge measurement.

If you meant Specifications instead;

A) Processor:
Intel Celeron, or Pentium 4, that uses a Socket 478 processor socket.
Either a 533MegaHertz Front Side Bus, or an 800MHz FSB.

(Dell also indicates the Intel Pentium 4 Extreme Edition processors are supported. Too expensive for what you get in return)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socket_478

B) Ram Memory:
DDR Sdram that operates at 333MHz, or 400MegaHertz.
PC2700 and PC3200 respectively.

Maximum TOTAL Amount is 4GigaByte
There are 4 Ram Memory slots. EACH slot has a Maximum Amount of 1GB.

C) Motherboard Chipset:

Northbridge chip: Intel 875P. (Part Number Intel 82875P )

(For Intel the Northbridge chip is the MCH, for this particular Northbridge chipset.
Memory Controller Hub)

The Southbridge chip is an Intel 82801EB (Part Number) or Intel 82801ER (P/N)
Commonly known as the Intel ICH5, or Intel ICH5R.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_chipsets#Pentium_4_chipsets

In the chart go down on the right side to - 875P

Looking across, and at the headings, you can see under the heading - Processors, that there are more Intel processors supported, than just the Intel Celeron's, and Pentium 4's.

Core2 Duo, Core2 Quad, Core2 Extreme, Pentium Dual Core, and Xeon.

Problem is they don't use a Socket 478 processor socket.
All except for the Xeon ( 'Zee-On' ) use an LGA 775 processor socket.
Xeon models use a Socket 603, or Socket 604, or LGA 771, processor socket.

It is just processors that the Intel 875P chipset will support.

D) Graphics Expansion Slot:

AGP
Uses AGP 8X graphics cards.

Where does the Microphone plug in to the Dell Vostro200

Depending on the chassis-style of your Vostro 200 (Slim-line or Tower), you may have one or more options for installing a microphone.
See below for instructions:
A. Slim-Line Model
There are two locations on this model (by default).
dd21be3.jpg
Front: You have the power button, then 2 x USB ports, 1 x Headphone jack-out, and 1 x Microphone jack-in.
c53ea7f.jpeg
Rear: There is a block of six audio connectors, looking only at the bottom 3 (red, green & blue).
Red = Microphone jack-in Green = Speaker/Audio jack-out Blue = Audio jack-in

B. Tower Model
There is one location on this model (by default):
f0bc025.jpg
Rear: There is a block of six audio connectors, looking only at the bottom 3 (red, green & blue).
Red = Microphone jack-in Green = Speaker/Audio jack-out Blue = Audio jack-in

Hi,
  • Reseat your sound-blaster card.
  • Close the tower and turn on your computer.
  • Then reset your Bios.
  • Then save and restart.
  • Uninstall the old drivers.
  • Click Here to Install the drivers from the Website.

I want to buy a motheboard for my HP d530 CMT but i dont know tho model number!!!

Hi ameer_bf,

That machine comes in three models, the ultra slim, the slim, and the convertible mini tower. Your best bet is the buy a Small Form Factor board that is compatible with a Intel Pentium 4 Socket N – 478. That's not easy to find now a days, but ebay may be a good option to find a used on. The issue I see, is if they are going to charge you more than $100.00 for a motherboard, I wouldn't put the money into that machine. First off, some of your current hardware may or may not work the same with the new motherboard, and the time it's going to take to install all your old programs. Most hard drives from that day, don't just start right up when you take them from one machine to another. The bios is written to the drive and usually the drive will fail not recognizing the equipment that on.

You can buy for $300.00 a brand new dual core Dell desktop directly from dell with a 3 year warranty, or there are all kinds of machine for that price brand new. Acer, HP, etc. Just something to think about.

Good Luck, and don't forget to leave a rating based on my solution.

Thanks Mark

Dell Dimension 4600 creative sound blaster card

It sounds like you may have broken your sound card. I had the same problem when I tried to digitise my old 4-track recordings.
I tried the broken card in another PC, found that it was not working, so I went out and bought a new sound card.

DELL OPTIPLEX GX150 Upgrade to Intel Pentium 4

Upgrading to a PIII to a PIV usually requires a new motherboard. Especially with that kind of speed you want to go to. The processor uses a different socket set and requires a different motherboard to absorb twice as much heat as you are putting out of the computer right now (the faster the processor, the more heat is released). Power supply should be around 400 watts as well because you will be needing a different cooling system as well.
