Hi,

I use Mediacoder (open source and free, yay!) for transcoding files into H.264. It's a bit involved and I don't recommend this for the average user.

Use instructions per 3rd post.

I reinstalled Media Player 11, then use this to synch the required video, and Media Player did the necessary conversion

This player accepts MP4, not WMV. Here's what you want to do:
First, try the Sony Media Manager - it is available for free from Sony's website if you have lost your installation CD.

If the Media Manager won't recognize FLV, download a free program called Riva FLV Encoder. Convert the FLV files to AVI.

Once the videos are converted to AVI, use the Sony Media Manager to convert the videos to MPEG-4, and they will now be usable by your Walkman.

Good luck!

I have a sony walkman and im trying to convert music videos to it with windows media and I have downloaded a sony walkman converter but when I try to play it on my walk man it says cannot play file format...

I have tried numerous converters and once I move the files to my Sony Walkman it says that either the file cannot be played or that there are no video files on it. I have used manual settings, I have used programs that auto convert for sony walkman and nothing. What I don't get is that only a few weeks ago I added some wmv files to it and they are working fine, but now if I try to add even one of the same files it wont work. Did I accidently uninstall something, or something?

Videos

The Sony NWZ range can only play WMV (windows media video) files. All movies you download through iTunes are .Mov (quicktime) files so these are not compatible. There are some convertors that can translate between .mov and wmv but for movies you have downloaded through iTunes, this will not be possible I'm afraid because of the copy protection they have built in.

To transfer wmv files onto your walkman don't use iTunes but use the Windows Explorer itself. Just drag the files on to the Video folder of your device.
