Only other think I can think of has any work been done or something go on which could have damaged the communication cable. May want to look at cable and end connections.

It could be one of 3 things, the indoor controller may needto be replaced, or the outdoor controller, or the wiring betwen the two, from your outdoor control to the inside house panel. your best bet is to switch out your old system with a compool to easytouch upgrade with the screenlogic interface bundle, or a Jandy Iaqualink upgrade. This will enable wireless access to the pool programs as well as give you control over variable speed pumps, which, if you dont have already, you will want to purchase.you will want a pool professional to install these items.

You may have to open the valves and reset the cams. Not too tricky, just a lot of trial and error to get it just right
FYI when you decide to replace the actuators, Intermatic now makes a direct replacement for both Compool (Pentair) and Jandy models. They are significantly cheaper.

when the indoor control start the alarm , did you notice any error code display in indoor control like 170 ? POSSIBLE IS THIS control a pool only or pool and spa combination, did you have a pool heater connected to compool 3400 (PENTAIR)

Turning on the spa side remote will remove the error code.Pentair will send you a new manual if you ask for one.
