There is a great program called Network Magic that will configure your wired and wireless connections with absolute ease. ALthough it is not a free program, you can use it to sonfigure everything and after the initial 7 day (used to be 30 day) free trial, it will ask you to purchase. You can easily uninstall it through add/remove programs in Control Panel. If you choose to uninstall it, it will not undo the connections it has made, and will not leave any residual program information in your computer. You may decide to keep it though. It is a great program that will keep you informed of many network functions, as well as help with your network security. Try installing the latest LAN driver.
You can download the drivers from ASUS WEB site. Sounds like a faulty wireless card or the card is installed with the wrong version driver.The wireless card itself sounds to be bad and needs replacing
