Could be possibly hardware or software issue. Boot with a linux cd (try ubuntu) and see if it ever reboots while running that.

Please perform the following troubleshooting:

(i) Remove and reseat the RAM modules.
(ii) Remove the Battery and reinsert it after cleaning the metal contact.

If the issue persists even when the AC Adaptor is connected then try to get into the BIOS and check if the Computer restarts or shutdown automatically. Restart the Computer and press the F2 key as the VAIO logo appears to enter into the BIOS window. if the Computer shutdown even when in the BIOS then service will be required otherwise try reinstalling the Operating System.

When i turn on my sony vaio pcg-k25 it will go to the start it will say the logo then goes to a baclk screen with a dash then goes comptele balck?

I think i know the problem - your pc is trying to display on an external monitor but im guessing you dont have one. If this is the problem simply press Fn and F5 at the same time on your keyoard. Sometime you may have to press it multiple times.

Thanks

Sony Vaio KPCG-K25 PC Notebook suddenly won't boot up. Windows acts like it's starting, then goes to a black screen. CD drive sounds like it engages, but it too will just go to a black screen.

For that when you power up the computer press F8 key then if you are able to see safe mode and other menu then enter in enable vga mode.
Then go to start menu then control panel ->dispaly ->settings.
Also make sure that graphic driver installed and working fine.
change screen resolution to 1024*768 then apply and ok.
then check in normally.
But if you are not able to see even safe mode then you need recovery disk or windows disk.
Boot computer with that disk.
For that when you power up the computer press F1 or F2 or "del" key to enter in bios .
Then go to boot menu then set first boot device as cd/dvd rom .then save and exit.
Thern it boot with disk.
Then follow the procedure and repair your previous windows.
Let me kno wif you need further assistance.

IS THIS WITH BOTH AC CORD AND BATTERY
you probably need a power supply
before you run out and buy one start and press f8 then start in safemode see if the same thing happens
also make sure your AC adapter is connecting with internal connection the internal connection can become loose or bent from constant plugging and unplugging

Install Windows XP without a CD drive

You'll need to assign the CD drive (which should show up as USB devicein BIOS or setup) as first boot device, if capable on your model/Computer. After you press power button, you should see a menu or dialog that shows something like 'press F2' or 'Delete' to enter setup. Once in setup, you should navigate thru until you find boot options or something of that nature. Select 'Boot from CD' or ' USB Device'. You should now insert your XP CD into the drive, close the tray, then choose 'Save'. It should now let you boot from the XP CD. At the first screen, you should select 'R' for repair console. It will then ask you to select an installation, type a '1' and then press the 'Enter' key. Next line will ask you to type an Administrator password. If you have one, type it, then press Enter. If no password, just tap the Enter key. Now, at the prompt, type CHKDSK C: /r as in (C: a space /r). then tap the Enter. It shoild now attempt to repair your Windows 2000 installation. When it finishes, reboot, go back into Setup and change first boot device to hard drive. Select Save and reboot LT. Have fun!
