You may have to use your RECOVERY disk that came with your system and re-install your operating system. I believe you can do it and still keep all your files you currently have.
boot up computer and as screen starts up keep tapping F8 to go into safe mode and then go to system restore and restore to a date before the update and it should work for you ..... it may have not been a real update or it just didnt load right / larryyb
Boot into safe mode by pressing F8 about 10 times during the post screen. Then completely remove your video drivers. Then reboot, into windows normally, go to the Nvidia web site and download the latest graphics drivers for the video card that you have. If this does not solve your problem, then you may have bad video memory on your video card.
Most of the new models are comming without CDS all the required files are loaded in your another partition.
