Water seeping through drain spud area of Aprilaire 600 model.

Water is still being dispensed through the drain spud and carried away by drain tube. There is no blockage in the drain tube. I noticed water slowly seeping from around the drain spud where it seats into the outer cover (as if there is not a tight seal to the hole in the unit where it seats into) and travels on the outside drain tube and drips onto the floor. I took off the 600's face cover and looked at the "spud" and there does not seem to be any calcifiction or debris that would make it not seat properly. Any ideas?

The drain is not plugged and I found water on the floor. I ordered a new filter cartridge because I believe the water is over flowing on top of the filter cartridge. The drain for the filter cartridge is directly above the humidifier housing drain and if excess water was coming through the cartridge, the water should drain directly into the housing drain. I believe the water is coming over the top of the cartridge and directly to the bottom of the humidifier housing where it is accumulating and draining on to the floor instead of going out the humidifier drain.

Root cause: The filter is clogged and needs to be replaced.

Clean it and dry it thoughly. Apply a small amount of 100 % silcone caulking with you finger. Seal it on both sides. Allow it to dry thoughly before it gets wet or it will leak.

Need to find a replacement drainage line for my Aprilaire 600

You can purchase the tubing at most hardware stores or any HVAC supply store. They carry the vinyl plastic tubing and pvc pipe for drain lines.

Should water be continualing running through the drain tube?

Water will flow over the filter pad as long as the unit is calling for humidity. once the unit is satisfied the solenoid valve should stop the water flow. if the water continues to flow with out call then solenoid valve has failed open. hope this helps.suppling an owners manual in case you need one.

Have aprilaire #760 ,changed water panel, and turned furnace on and water started pouring out of the bottom of furnce? lots of water---

Typically, we find that the most common reason that you start to see leaking from the humidifier is that the water panel is not changed frequently enough. We do recommend that the water panel be changed once every humidifying season. We find a majority of our customers do this maintenance typically at the start of the humidifying season.

Here are the things to check when troubleshooting a power humidifier, which is leaking:

1.Position Of Unit On Plenum
Is the unit level (let to right)?
Is it plumb (front to back)?

2.Feed Tube
Is the Feed Tube tightened or is there a crack in the tube?

3.Position Of Scale control insert-
Is the base of the scale control insert sitting firmly in the drain spud at the base of the housing?
Does the bottom of the scale control insert have a taper to it to direct water to the drain spud?
Is the Scale control insert positioned correctly? The scale control insert has a front and a back. The back of the water distribution tray has an indentation in it to allow for clearance of the nozzle, which is attached to the top of the base. If reversed, and forced into place, the water distribution tray will break off the nozzle attached to the water feed tube and potentially the housing, causing water to leak

4.Water Panel Assembly-
Are there aluminum strands hanging out of the scale control insert?
Is there a gap between the top of the water panel and the water distribution tray for air to go through?
Is the colored dot on the water panel, up?
Is there a consistent coating on the Water panel, or are there shinny spots or clumps of coating?

5.Water Entrainment (Water Blowing out of the Humidifier)-
Are there signs of entrainment? Mineral build-up on fan blade, shroud, inside of cover?
Is the static pressure in the plenum over .4w.c.? If so, entrainment and leaking could occur.

6.Missing Orifice
If there is no orifice in the unit, the water entering the system could flood the panel. To check
for proper water flow, a quart jar should fill at the drain line in about 2 ½ minutes for a red or blue orifice, 5 minutes for a white or yellow orifice.

7.Drain line-
Is the drain line plugged?
Does it have a good downward slope?
Is it teed with any other drain lines?

If the above items do not resolve the existing leaking we would recommend contacting the customer service line at 800-334-6011 for further technical support.

Fan motor seems to be running backwards. Installed in 1999.Always maintaned. Overall worked OK until this past year. Many problems with water leakage. When I opened and checked fan direction, it was moving...

The fan on the model 700 does rotate backwards compared to your typical fan operation. This fan will pull air from the duct verses pushing air into the duct. There are several things that may cause your humidifier to leak. The most known reason for leaking is the water panel/filter is not being changed frequently enough which should be at least once every heating season. You also want to confirm that you are utilizing an authentic Aprilaire water panel.

I have an Aprilaire 700 that is leaking at the bottom. Most of the water exits as it should through the drain tube. I am not sure my fan is turning. Is it that quiet or should I hear it? How can I test?

Most likely you have too much water going to the unit you may have to throttle down the water valve that is tapped into the domestic water source. Also check to see if the tray is in the spud going to the drain

Aprilaire model 560 pan keeps filling up with water - what adjustments do I need to do?

Here's a link to the manual for your Aprilaire model 560 humidifier you can download and print for free.

According to Aprilaire, it is normal for there to be excess water going into the drain pan. However, the drain pan should have a drain line connected to it so the contaminents from the humidifier can be flushed down a drain and away from the unit. (see page 2 Principle of Operation).

They further state that the water valve should only be either fully on or fully shut off and do not attempt to regulate water flow with the inlet supply valve.

http://www.aprilaire.com/themes/aa/en/manuals/Humidifiers_Owners_Manual.pdf

I would give the unit a good cleaning of the pan, locate the drain connection and attach a drain line to your unit as is required for proper operation and function/

Hope you find this Very Helpful - Best regards!

Water pours out the tube from the lennox humidifier

A small discharge of water coming out of the bottom of an April Aire drain spud is normal. This feature constantly tries to rinse the system. This helps to prevent the possibility of mold or bacteria accumulating in the unit from standing water. It may appear to be alot of water. But be reassured that you are breathing in cleaner air. Now if it continues to drain constantly even when it is turned off then you should repair the unit.
