I accessed the 'service' menu on the tv through a thread on a website. Was looking for info on bulb life/hours.
A service menu came up with lots of tecnical headings. I went into the first one out of stupid curiosity. Somehow whilst in there I think I altered a setting and my screen changed....
I now have a fifth or so horizontal section of the screen visible at the top. The rest of the screen is blacked out.
I have tried accessing the same menu, and the normal screen menu on tv remote, but now will not appear. They would have been in the section which is now black.
Any ideas? My bulb was going and have ordered a replacement. As menus not visible I think I must have blown something which affects the majority of screen but confused as to why the top section ok?

Take the sample out when you go to purchase the new ,cause then you can be sure all values are correct and that it looks the same or take a picture with the values and send to your supplier.
these sets had a service only replacement bulb. IT is possible for you to replace but it requires the rear cover to be removed. The lamp is located behind a sealed cover only accessible with the back removed.

Please adjust TINT control of Video Settings in Menu that will adjust color tone of TV. I do not think this problem is related with Lamp because TV screen does not have any color blobs or spots. Above solution is for Sony KDF-55WF655 model TV, if your model number is different, let me know. Thanks.
Hi, Your TV requires service and cleaning of screen, mirror and 3 lenses (of CRTs) as looks dusty. Below is an exploded view how to take off front beznet assembly of this TV to clean inside with moist cotton cloth. Unplug TV before taking off front of TV.
