XPS 600 - Six Beeps No Boot

When I turn on my Dell XPS 600 I hear 6 beeps from the computer and no signal to the monitor. This comes after it recently has been rebooting randomly whether I'm actively using the machine or letting it idle with processes such as Firefox running.

Yes, your response sent me on the right track to solving my problem. Initially I was trying to help fix that computer over the phone. Once I got it in my hands it was just a matter of eliminating potential issue. I came down to little more than "6" beeps that I was told over the phone. In the end though it led me to a memory problem that was caused by the motherboard. It stopped working with Dual Channels. Instead of running on the single stick of RAM (which allowed me to boot) I stuck the the two in slot A1 and B1 so it at least kept the same amount of memory.

Follow this link and figure out what the beep code is telling you and i can try to help you fix it from there. I can tell you that what you are describing usually is caused by a hardware issue.

mine has done this a few times, usually just unplugging power supply lead from pc, then holding down power button to remove static energy and then plugging back power and rebooting solves this issue. Once this has failed then i just removed panels and hoovered out motherboard and componants seemed to do the trick

sounds like youv'e covered all the possibles i would. could be the boot files got corrupted or the monitor is bad(have you checked it with another pc?) check the motherboard for swollen capacitors(those barrell looking objects randomly scattered over board. if the tops that have little crosses on them (+) are popping up/out unlike others, then your board needs replacement or new pc. cannot fix those. happened to a friend of mine. would not boot up to show windows.

Beep codes on dell xps one 2010

If I understand your issue, it sounds like the display works fine until it loads Windows, and then it has the error? It sounds to me like the video card drivers are crashing. This may be the case if you have recently updated them, or installed a new video card. I would recommend getting the latest drivers from the manufacturer's website on a CD, SD card, or USB drive, and then boot your computer in safe mode. Once in safe mode, install the new drivers, and see if that will help. You could also try using your onboard (integrated) video card if your motherboard has one. This could help rule out if the monitor is at fault. Just make sure your BIOS has the integrated card as a secondary video device if it the (I'm assuming PCIex16) peripheral card isn't found.

Three sets of beeps, or three individual beeps? Does it repeat? If so, then check this for the code you are hearing:
http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/pe600sc/en/it/1r237c20.htm#1046231

If it is a steady once-per-second beep - or a constant screech - and it is able to boot to the OS (or even most the way), then it is probably your RAID controller. Boot to CTRL-A or CTRL-M to check the status of your array.

Six beeps at post and no joy with boot up

The exact meaning of the beeps for Dell depends on their... rhythm.

Six beeps might indicate a simple CMOS failure caused by a bad battery, which is easy to replace.

Dell XPS 600 beeping noice

there are 2 things that can cause that, memory failure, or mother board, cheeper route to go would be replace your memory first, and see if that corrects the problem, if not then, check anything new you installed inside such as video card, lan cards, of something like that, if that doesn't work you need to have it looked at and possibly the mother board replaced,

Dell Dimension XPS PC Desktop won't boot

Hi,

Vista is available in 32 and 64 bit os.
if your system ran xp which was most likely 32 bit. And you have installed a 64 bit version os.
this will be your problem, also Vista requires more system RAM/Memory to run it.
If you get 1 beep at startup, it states the system is ok.
Alternatives are device drivers incompatability.
Check M$ website, regarding vistas minimum system requirements.

Mike @ Compurepair.
