Mac Power Book G4 - Won't accept ANY Media in Cd / DVD

Help!
I insert  a cd or dvd in the slot....

makes a weird sound  twice...
then spits it out.

Is the cd / dvd burner player toasted?
Can I fix it or should I just get an external burner player drive?
Thanks,
DB

Yes, your burner is toast. Go order you a new one, open this puppy up, and install it. No need to worry about voiding the warranty, cause your warranty has long expired on this old beast. If your hands are unsteady or your tech skills a bit rusty, then pay someone to do it.

CD drive clicking sound

Hello my friend please try to insert 2 new CD. and then try to observe the sound if it is still sounds like the weird. Then if you notice that the 2 new CD you insert produce same sound as your old one then i recommend that if you can find computer technician in your place to verify if your DVD/CD Rom is defective or not cause as of now if the 2 new cd inserted produces same sound as your old cd inserted then DVD/CD Rom has something to do its either defective or has a serious problem that needs assistance.

Thank you

Can't boot up my mac book air

hm, try leaving it on over night, sometimes if you turn your laptop of from the power or hold down the power button when allot of programs are running or if you get the program not responding thing happen this can mess up your laptop and will take ages to boot up,
or it might never boot again
so you will need to take the install cd/dvd that came with the laptop, insert it into your laptop, reset it again, then as u hear that sound apples make as you turn it on, hold down C untill it boots into the cd/dvd then go from there.

Apple Mac ibook G4 14'' [Mid 2005] 1.42 GHz. CD/DVD drive problem This ibooks Disc drive is not working. It does not accept a disc. I can put them into the slot to about 1/3 of the disc but will not go in...

If you can only get the disk in that short way, I think you have another disk or item already inserted. Press the key that looks like a triangle above a parallel line while the computer is turned on. Also, check your desktop for an icon that looks like a cd disc. If you find one, drag it to your trash can. This will eject a **** if one is inserted.

My imac g4 isn't reading the dvd/cd drive at all

it won't read it because the new os disk is double layered and the g4 drive you have probably won't read double layered dvds.  best solution is to buy or borrow an usb external dvd drive.  i did this last week and it worked fine.

PowerBook Aluminum G4 1.67GHZ

Kim,  I'm glad you asked this.  I have had problems with my superdrive as well.  What I found out through persistent research is this:     The new Superdrives can take CD+R and DVD+R.  (I am assuming you are asking about recording?   However, the older models of Superdrives ---usually found in Powerbook G4s, can take CD-R and DVD-R.  These are different from the first ones ini that they are slower to burn, and just a few gb short of space than the +.  this should help solve the problem with taking new cds and dvds for burning.  The superdrive tends to just spit these right back out.  If you are referring to playing them, then have you tried cleaning the dirty ones?  Check the help section at www.apple.com.  they have wonderful solutions.  Try to put in a couple new cds or dvds to play.  Open up itunes or the dvd player before you put the disks in.  If you're still having trouble, make use of that warranty and go to your nearest apple store to fix it right up! Hope this helps!
