you should check first that your USB port work properly. You can see its status in the device manager. By right klicking and then properties you will find out USB port status. If it will say that you have a problem, go thru the troubleshoot process, in case it will tell you that the device is working properly,go to the driver tab and then to the uninstall and remove the drivers. Now move back to the device manager main screen and on top klick on the action tab then on scan for hardware changes, it should install the drivers again and hopefully it will fix your problem. The player is not defective. The older Philips players recognized DRM-encrypted WMA's - the newer Philips players do not.
You have to get Rhapsody's Mp3 only service - I repeat, MP3 ONLY. No other level of Rhapsody service will work with the newer Philips' GoGear's - which is funny, b/c Philips co-branded with Rhapsody on the newer players. Rhapsody's Mp3 Only is not the only choice you have - but the key is only to transfer songs that are in mp3 or NONPROTECTED WMA format (non-protected wma's are not purchased songs, but songs ripped in the right way from CD).
