Navigon 7100 GPS Navigator GPS Receiver Logo
Posted on Jan 21, 2009

I've had my Navigon 7100 GPS for 2 weeks now, little use, and today I got the fatal application error that MN6.exe was going to shut down. I have seen forums on this issue but nothing recent. The unit will turn on but only to the point of the Navigon main screen. The hourglass comes up, but is still and then disappears.

I have the same problem. Mine started giving the error message after I updated the maps and checked the preferences last night. The map was zoomed all the way out and wouldn't respond. After I used the reset button to try to get it going again I started getting "Application MN6.exe has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down." I tried restoring a previous backup but it didn't change anything.

I have the same problem with the Navigon 7100. I bought this product on line about a year ago. I started to use it recently within the last week and it seemed to be working fine. However, I could not erase a route 34 error or whatever it was called and then I got some kind of error message that was in the form of a yellow triangle warning and I was completely shut down. I had my 7100 plugged into my car while driving and when I got home I decided to charge it again thinking that was the porblem. The system lights up with an hour glass turning up and down. No sound and the unit is completely frozen. What's causing this ? I paid a lot of money for a unit that is not working properly. I will appreciate your help and advice.

    Thank You,

    Alex

I solved this problem.

The backup is just a copy of the files on the SD card. I made one a couple of months ago when everything was working ok. I tried to erase the SD card so I could restore the backup manually. I ran into an error with a SD card file that wouldn't erase. I ended up formatting the SD card then copying the old backup files to it. That took care of the problem and now the Navigon works the way it's supposed to.

This can also be caused by a low battery.

this is a very common problem with this unit.
What version do you have on your Mio Moov?
I have that error when I run the 2100 version on my Mio Moov. I can run the 7200 software without a problem...
Give it a trial.

My Navigon 7100 no longer speaks the street names after I downloaded the latest software updates.

I had the same problem and this fixed it: Connect the navigon to your computer and go into the files directory and create 3 new empty folders, as follows: (You may want to back up your navigon 1st) After i created these empty folders, I was able to go into settings and turn Stree names on

Create these empty folders within MN6\sound folder.

The MN6.exe fatal Application error is displayed all the time and I am unable to use the Navigon 2100 GPS

push the reset button on the side of the system (a paperclip works well for this). Also, remove the card and put in again. If this doesn't work go to Navigons website and make sure you've downloaded all the software updates. Make sure your unit is fully charged as well. Don't waste your time emailing Navigon's CS online help....I attempted to contact them on 3 separate occassions and never got a response. Good luck. Hope one of my work-arounds helps you.

Navigon 7100 Fatal Application Error

I had the same problem with my unit.

Did you try to reload ALL the files back to the memory card?

This as a slow process, but it seems to go a little faster if you use a card reader.

Format card using FAT option, not FAT32.

Hope this helps
