Touchpad on Everex XT5000T suddenly stopped working

I had some wireless router problems and when the tech was remotely working on the computer to fix the router problem my touchpad suddenly stopped working. The wireless mouse works fine. The Everex website has drivers to download but after 2 hours of downloading it suddenly came up with an error message. Is there any help?

There is not a ? or ! on any of the items in the device manager

  • shine473 Jan 22, 2009

I don't know of a switch but I'll check. I'll try to get ahold of the tech but I have a feeling it will be tough. I tried the mousepad settings but they didn't do anything.

Do you have any mouse settings for touchpad in control panel.

I also know some laptops have a small switch on there laptops for turn off/on the touchpad

I would call the call back and ask him what he did if you can't fix the problem.

Sometimes techs have a habit of shutting certain things off and then forgetting to turn them on when leaving

I think your going to neeed to do that

you can also reset your router and modem

but i think the tech had to disable touchpad to repair and then he did'nt enable it again.

If it stopped afetr he was there then he obviously did something

My everex stepnote laptop randomly stops seeing the wireless adaptor, and when \i look in device manager, doesnt see the wireless connection at all

I had a similar issue with mine. The wireless adapter has an IRQ issue, which may explain the issue. I would recommend turning it off and replacing it with either a mini PCIe wireless card (such as the intel 3 or 4000 series which are like $8-15 on ebay) or a USB wifi card.

My everex xt5000t laptop freezes and the mouse will not move when it freezes what will fix this problem

Turn off the wireless switch then turn it on. No seriously... there's an IRQ issue with the wireless card. It can be fixed if you load Windows 7 on there or if you replace / disable the wirless card.

Here's a link to the fix and more fixes for this laptop

I have a everex stepnote XT5000T and the it turns on but the screen stays black.what could be the problem?

It may be that the display output toggle has been set to "external monitor" ... try Fn+F3 .... to toggle it from your screen, to external monitor to both ... and see if the screen works.
If this doesn't work, connect an external monitor to your computer, and toggle it, to see if the monitor displays the screen contents. If this works, then it's possible that your LCD screen is faulty ("fried")

StepNote XT5000T - wireless internet connection went down - now the machine doesn't give wireless connections as an option. Went into networks - and no wireless device is listed.Device manager doesn't show...

Please reinstall the Wireless Driver once. You can also perform a System Restore to restore the Computer to an earlier date when the Wireless connection was working normally.

Need XP drivers for Everex XT5000T

Here they are, xpdrivers for everex xt5000t please note, the first two from the lists are manuals not drivers.. you'll need to select the operating system type (32 bit or 64 bit). I hope it's 32 bit. Good luck. Thanks for using FixYa.

Can I get a replacement AMD wireless card

Try this first before you give up...any usb adapter will work by the way....just keep the windows wirless utility as your main wireless software.

Windows WiFi Fix,

Windows Zero Wireless Configuration is one of the best programs to run a WiFi in Windows XP or Vista. Most of the other software packages that come with the different adapters have been poor at best in keeping a connection through Windows. Here is the best guide to get you back up and connected.

Windows XP:

Click Start
Right click on My Computer
When a window pops up click on properties
Click on the Hardware tab
Click Device Manager
Click the [+] next to Network Adapters
Find your wireless card and right click on it.
Click Disable
Windows may warn you that disabling the device may make it stop functioning.
Continue disabling the device.
Wait 30 seconds or so.
Right click on your wireless again and click Enable.
Exit the device manager.
Reconnect to your router.
You should now be able to connect to the internet.

Windows Vista:

Click Start Logo
Right Click Computer
Click Device Manager
Windows will ask you about opening Device Manager

Everx Lap Top

I have the same exact problem with my Everex XT5000T. It is the Nvidia 7600go video card. If you call Everex at: 1-866-850-8835They will tell you they realize there is an issue with the video card and will replace at no cost, even if it is a refurbished computer and even if its past warranty. Thats what I did today and it will be out in the mail tomorrow.
