Significant surges can do a # on flat panel TV sets. You could have multiple boards that are damaged. Being that you have a 22" LCD, repair could exceed the value of the set. When you plug in the set, does the power indicator come on?

Bad storm last night. My Sharp Aquos TV was plugged into a surge protector. Now the red LED light is not on and the tv will not turn on. I have tried all of the resets. Any help. Thanks

There are several things to consider:
The surge protector might be ruined and is not allowing power to get to the television. Try a direct connection.

The television may have taken a shock through another connection and the surge protector could not stop the damage.
Check the breakers and the outlet to be sure there is power to the outlet. Consider a claim to your insurance for coverage on the television. If it is the power supply in the television then it is most likely beyond your means to repair.

My Avaya Partner (old system) voice mail is not working after a power outage.

Power surges damage electronics that power up devices. The surges push too much current into the units sensitive controllers and thus damage the units beyond repair.
As a system ages, it declines just like people and thus tend to break down gradually. Power surges just make electronics go faster down hill.

After a lightning strike my smart tv lost its picture everything else works fine trying to isolate which card is the problem.

For the TV repair, if you're lucky it's just a 20 cent fuse or two on the power supply board. If you're not so lucky it could be parts of the power supply board, which can be a simple replace job. But if it's beyond that if some of the display electronics got fried (Being a name brand like LG, it shouldn't) it could be listed as BER (Beyond Economical Repair)

If the TV also had a coax going in, that can cause damage to the electronics and bypass the surge protection entirely, which is why some surge protectors have coax jacks on them, as well as phone/modem jacks.

After a power outage my Panasonic smart tv came on for 2 seconds but after that it turned off and it wont come on after 24hrs

The power outage probably popped an inside fuse or damaged some electronic components. If you are capable, unplug the tv and place it face down on a soft towel. Unscrew all the screws on the rear that hold the two halves together. Lift the back panel slowly making sure all is free. Look for the fuses and check if they are blown. If they are, replace them with the same rated fuses. This is the cheapest fix. If the fuses pop again after this, then something beyond the fuse was damaged. You will need a repair shop to troubleshoot it. Once fixed, plug the tv into a surge protector for future use. Hope this helps.

My panasonic tc-p50x5 will not come on after power outage. whats wrong?

Being in the field of electronics I can not stress this enough....POWER SURGE PROTECTION...and I am not talking about a power strip with "surge protection"...they are useless. That being said you had a surge that most likely blew out your main power board. There is a fuse on that board and if you are lucky that popped and it is an easy fix. If not, you will have to remove the board, get the numbers on it and search out a replacement. There are plenty of places online to get them but I use Allied Electronics. One thing to check while you have the tv apart is to check all boards for visible burn marks or damage from the surge.

Magnavox Television

There is an 8amp 250v 5mm x 20mm ceramic slow blow fuse on the power supply board inside the TV. The picture below shows the board with the fuse circled in yellow. If you had a big enough power surge it may have damaged other parts of the power supply beyond the fuse. Look for burn marks on the power supply board when you replace the fuse. Following a power cut my tv has no power, have changed the fuse, checked and used another proven working plug and still no power .. Is this tv repairable ?

Sounds like the power supply has copped a mains-borne surge. Replacing the fuse doesn't always fix it unfortunately. The cost to repair the switchmode PSU depends on how many components have been affected within it and the extent of the damage as a result of the surge. If the damage is serious, for example burn marks/large cracks on the board, and the optocoupler is destroyed, the whole set would be uneconomical to repair.

You can never predict when or where a power surge is likely to strike.

Possible power surge?

Sounds like you got a surge which damaged the control panel. This is the most likely thing. We regularly repair these control panels nationwide for $32.50. A fuse is designed protect against excessive current. But if you have excessive voltage (a surge or spike), it can be so fast that it gets past the fuse and damages the control panel without actually blowing it. While the panel does have surge protection to keep that surge from actually destroying the control panel, the panel is damaged and will have to be repaired. If any power line connections were broken or are suspect, I hope you have contacted the power company. Either way, I would test any affected outlets to be sure the neutral and ground are present so the voltage output is within the proper range.
