Hi, if you have already cleaned all the areas in scanner, then the reason should be an error in your scanner interface cable. This is the flat, grey cable which is connected to scanner lamp. Try to disconnect it and connect it again. When you use your Canon just for printing, there should be no dark lines. Also maybe you scanner lamp has a problem. These things you can't repair. Good luck pifonski
Make a copy with your fax machine. If your scanner is bad you should have a similar problem making copies. The same scanner is used to make a copy as is used to scan and send a fax. If the copy comes out bad your scanner is either dirty or bad. If you can see your copy but it just has a few lines running vertically up and down the page then you need to clean the scanner glass. This is a small strip of glass in the port where you feed it your originals.
Good Luck
If you lift the top of the unit so that you can see the scanner glass and clean the surface on the left side and the very end of the scanner you should be ok. The sheet feeder runs the pages through the feeder and down to the glass at the end then back to the feeder and out to the stack of pages. If you try to scan anything with wet ink, highlighter, marker, etc some may come off on the glass and cause the lines to appear. Just use windows on a paper towel, not sprayed on the unit.
I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.
This is an indication the scanner is dirty. Try cleaning the scanner. There are products that have cleaner in them where you simply have to send the treated paper through the scanner.
Try printing out a report. If the line is still there you need to use the wire cleaner on your print cartridge or if that doesn't work, replace the drum unit.
lift the auto feeder and clean the scanner glass that your pages scan across -it is dirty. You can make a copy afterward and this will tell you if you have solved the problem.
1st print a report, can you see the lines? Then either the drum is faulty or the laser scanner is. If the lines are not present when printing a report, make a copy and see then if the lines appear. If so, the scanner is faulty. Try cleaning the glass with glass cleaner. However, blank lines mean that bits are missing from the scanner itself and the scanner will need to be replaced.
I have lines down the page of my copies. How do I clean the scanner glass?
