When im watching tv if the power is cut off either by mains fuse tripping or a power cut the tv turns off! when the power supply comes back even if its only off for a few seconds the sound and picture will not come back on? all that comes on is the red stand by light which does change to green when i try to turn the tv on but nothing else happens? the only way i know to sort the problem is to unplug the tv all together and leave it for atleast 3 hours!!! then once its plugged back in it works fine untill another power cut, if anyone has any advice i would be very gratefull as this problem is very annoying! its a 42inch phillips plasma its 15 months old.
Go buy a CRT television for $200 and chunk that HD TV. All of them are made in China with the same poor quality. Why seemingly smart Americans would pay good money for such junk is beyond me. The LCDs are a cash cow for the monitor and TV industry as they are well aware the inverter boards will fail within 3 years time. The old CRT tvs will work for the next 15 - 20 years without failure. Get you a good ole 36 in sony black stripe tube and kiss the LCD crowd good by.
Hi,
We purchased a phillips plasma 50" in july 06 and it cut on and off 5 or more times a day I called phillips customer service they told us it was due to the cable company they came out and changed the tv jack gave us a new box and tested the lines said everything was ok. The problem still kept happening got back to phillips and they sent us a flash drive to update the info in the tv. still kept happening told us it was due to tv being sensitive to power flutuations. well we are now 5mths out of warrenty and the power board blows up! phillips will not do anything to help the person I spoke with admitted we were given bad advice the bill was estimated at over $500 so if I were you if its still under warrenty make them send someone out to look at it, Reading up on phillips tv complaints this seems to be a common thing By the way phillips customer service sucks dont rely on them to help you much. good luck

My 42 inch phillips plasma turns on for a few seconds and then turns off and the stand by light stays flashing. Am trying to take it to get repair but I trying to at least get an idea of what it is before they charge me alot of money.
