When i turned on switch dell vostro 230 it give no display and led colour is red

No Display, so does it seem like the computer booted up and is running except that the Display is black? Do you hear fans running, disk drive spinning, blinking lights or beeps?

I'm going to assume that in your case since you mentioned a red light that it is not booting up all the way. Therefore your problem is probably with the memory, the video card or some other motherboard issue.

Remove the Power Cord, Remove the Battery, Remove the cover that houses the memory on the bottom of the laptop then remove one of thememory chips. Set the chip aside then try rebooting the computer. If it boots, then you know the memory chip you set aside is bad so mark an x onit with an ink pen. If it fails to boot then move the chip to the nextmemory slot and try rebooting. If it fails take the chip out and set itaside, then put the other chip in and try booting it in both slots. If itboots, just to verify that the chip set aside is bad, mark an x on it and putit into the open memory chip slot and try booting.

Compaq presario v6101uswont boot not even start up screen

When you plug in the power cord is there any lightswhatsoever on the laptop, where the plug goes in or on the AC Adapter of thepower cord?

When you press the power button do you hear fans running, hard drive spinning, lights on the computer, hear any beeps or lights constantly blinking, hear theDvD/CD drive click and the light on the drawer of the DvD/CD turn on for asecond or two? If so the laptop is trying to boot or may have booted, butthe screen is not showing for some reason.

Beep tones and blinking lights tells the technicians what is going on with thelaptop and why it is not booting. Most times it's a motherboard issuewhen you hear beeps or blinking lights continuous.

Maybe you have a Static Charge Buildup. Remove the Power Cord, Remove theBattery, then Press and Hold the power button for 30seconds. After 30 seconds plug the power cord back in (leave the batteryout) and hit the power button to see if it boots. If it does, you can putthe battery back in and let it charge.

MODEL LT2016U WONT BOOT UP

Is it trying to boot up or is it doing absolutely nothing when you plug in the power cord and hit the power button?

Maybe your power cord is bad if you don't get anything to happen whatsoeverwhen you press the power button. And if that's true maybe you wasoperating off the battery the last time you had it on and since the power cordis bad, it was not charging the battery so the battery is drained and the powercord is bad.

Maybe you have a Static Charge Buildup. Remove the Power Cord, Remove theBattery, then Press and Hold the power button for 30seconds. My computer works normaly with an single core athlon 3200+ but when I use an Athlon 4400+ or 4000+ dual core, it just wont boot. The fans are running and lights are on but there is no signal on the monitor...

take a look at the motherboard manufacturers website and see if your motherboard will accept a 4400. You may need to update the bios on your board to accept the faster processor. You need to be careful if you flash the bios. do it wrong and you can write the board off.

Good luck

The computer isn't coming on the power cable is plugged in the green light is blinking but nothing else is happening

Do you hear fan starting noise? If you dont hear any noise most probably you need new power supply.
you can buy cheap power supply from www.aria.co.uk
if you hear the fan noise!
Does you motherboard starting with POST (a beep noise).
if you dont hear. well you need a new motherboard which should be compatible with your other peripherals.
if you hear a beep noise! Most probably your operating system is corrupted. (Boot file corrupted)
in this case you may have to install new operating system.

Thank you

I'm having an aspire m5640. it does not boot. beep?

Yes if there are error on the system you should most likely hear a beep most of the time when there is no beep it is due to bad ram. Some times beep codes can't detect bad ram and your computer will not boot.
Open the computer up and see how many ram chips you have if you have more than one take the one in dimm slot 2 out. There should be small writing next to the slots 1,2,3,4 or Dim 1 dim 2 ect ect. you always want to keep slot 1 with ram so start by pulling out the ram out of slot 2 and turn your computer on. If your computer still dosn't post pull the ram out of slot 1 out and insert the ram that was in slot 2 into slot 1 if still no luck it's most likely your board but the best way to test this is to know that you have a good working stick of ram you could purchase one and if it dosnt work bring it back ... theres also the chance of your video card being bad but there is usualy a post code for it (beep code)
if you have no clue on what ram looks or how to open your computer just google for installing ram on a computer and you should find step by step guides

Cant get computer to

Disconnect everything from the motherboard except the power supply, CPU and power switch.

Turn on the computer. You should hear 3 beeps because you removed the memory.

If you don't hear any beeps, check the power supply. Check all the connections. Did you connect the 4 pin power? Did you skimp on it? A common mistake is to get a cheap, high-power supply. Just because the box says it's 1000 WATTs doesn't mean that will carry a steady load.

Still nothing...

It's either a bad motherboard or processor. If you have another processor that is supported on that board and you know it works, try it. If it boots return your CPU for a good one.

Unfortunatly, if it doesn't boot with a known-good processor that just proves the board is bad; it doesn't prove your CPU is good. You may have more issues.

Getting power but wont boot up or anything

pull out everything in the computer except what's required to boot...so any pci cards or video cards (if you have onboard video). you can also try pulling out the ram (while unpowered AND unplugged) and then booting to hear beeps...if you pull the ram out and the computer doesnt make a sound, its probably a bad motherboard and needs to be replaced. if you hear beeps, try replacing the ram or disconnecting other parts...like harddrives, optical drives, modems and what not.

P4vmm2 doesnt boot,Y?

Hi yansky, When you turn the computer on do you see or hear any of the following: -Does the power LED turn on and if so for how long? -When you turn you power on listen closely for any sounds like hard drives or fans starting up. -Does anything show on your monitor, if yes what exactly? -When turned on do you hear any beeping sounds from the computer? If you do listen for the pattern of long and short beeps and let us know what they are. If you see absolutely nothing you should try testing the socket the computer is plugged into. Fuses blow, power strips die cords develop shorts so unplug the computer and plug in a lamp to verify you?re getting power. If that doesn?t turn up anything let us know the answers to the questions above plus any other observations and we?ll try to help.
