you can take a speaker out of a used cordless phone. I did that and replace the speaker and works great.

call cobra 773 889 3087 the speakers are a few dollars and just plug in
i have replaced the speakers in both of my detectors they usually only last about 1 1/2 years

replace the speaker cobra sells them for a few dollars

the speakers are easy to install just plug in no soldering required .

Most likely the speaker simply blew due to excessive heat. This is a fairly common problem with all makes and models of radar detectors. Contact Cobra. They should either be able to send you a replacement speaker which you can install yourself, or they should issue you a RMA so that you can send in your Cobra for service.

The best way is to call up cobra or ask them a question through their site.

I called cobra support(777-889-3087) and it was around $6 plus shipping for a replacement speaker.

Cobra was very courtious and I also got my replacement speaker for my XRS-9500.!
