Timer problem? My washer stops running frequently during the cycle. It seems to stop every time the washer switches to the next part of the cycle, it stops on the number 1, 2, and 3. When I push start it continues on. I was thinking this might be a problem with the timer, but I can't find my manual. What do you think? Thanks for your time!!

Washer stops during normal wash cycle for a minute or more, and then continues. Would replacing the timer fix it?

If it actually goes on and finishes the cycle and that really bothers you replace it. If not leave it alone and allow a little more time to complete its cycle. The lid switch only keeps the spin cycle from going with the top open.

Hoover six 1100 stops at certain points during the cycle until i turn the dial to skip to next part of cycle?

see this causes and fix it. God bless you
If the washer stops mid cycle the timer might be defective. This part is often misdiagnosed, check other components before replacing this timer.
f the washer stops mid-cycle the main control board might be defective. This is not common. Check other causes first such as the lid or door switch and other components.
If the washer stops mid cycle the water inlet valve cold water side may have failed. Most washers have a cold water rinse and so if they can't fill with cold water they just sit indefinitely waiting for the cold water to enter. If there is cold water to the water inlet valve and the cold water works in other parts of the cycle - or to make warm water - the valve is not the problem.
If the washer stops mid cycle the door lock assembly should be checked. The door lock can fail either mechanically or electrically. Test any switches on the door lock with an Ohm meter. The switches should have continuity according to their design.
If the washer stops mid cycle the lid switch assembly might be defective. This is a very common problem. The lid switch assembly can fail either mechanically or electrically. Test any electrical switches with an Ohm meter for continuity. The switches should have continuity according to their design.

WASHER WILL WASH ON ALL CYCLES, BUT WILL NOT DRAIN OR SPIN ON EITHER CYCLE

If the timer advances normally thru the spin and drain steps of the cycle you selected, than the problem that would cause neither spinning or draining, is the wash motor is not reversing. The motors is a two direction motor. It spins clockwise for normal agitation, but counterclockwise to engage the wash drum clutch and operate the drain pump. I would ask you to check for motor sounds at all during the spin and drain cycles. The pump reversing in the spin or drain cycles can be a function of the machine's lid safety switch, or if not the motor switch or timer contacts. The lid switch is first thing to check here, for sure! If the machine seems to stop running when it comes time to drain or spin, the lid switch is your best bet!

Hope this helps.

Hello I have a Maytag Washer Model A512 The machine goes through a regular cycle OK - However, it DOES drains the water out during the rinse cycle, but does NOT drain the water out during the spin...

The timer will always advance to the next program if the machine does not fully drain. There is ALWAYS a spin when draining the water out, there is only one pump and one motor. The waterlogged laundry maybe telling the timer that there is still water in the tub. Put the machine on "Spin" and cheat the lid switch into thinking that the lid is closed. Use a clothes peg or wide ended screwdriver and see if there really is a spin....

On the Maytag Neptune MAH 5500, the timer is running through its cycle without stopping to complete that cycle. In other words if rinse is selected the wsher fills partially and you can watch the timer...

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. It seems to be an issue with the Timer motor going bad and should be replaced to resolve this issue. Everything seems to be working fine as the washer is filling with water spinning etc so it is the Timer that should be replaced.
Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

Washer is acting erratic. spin cycle works sometimes. stops half way through cycle sometimes. got a new belt. what's next? pump or timer. both are spendy $ thanks. frigidaire FTR630ASO

The control monitors the door lock prior to and during the spin cycle as a safety feature. The washer will not advance to the spin cycle when the door lock is not activated and stops when the lock is deactivated during the spin cycle.

In your case, the door lock is working intermittently causing the washer to spin intermittently. This is probably due to a faulty door lock and switch assembly or poor connection at the control board or at the assembly itself. Replace the door lock and switch assembly if necessary.

Timer Stalling

I would check the water hoses for twisting, make sure the water faucets are turned on all the way, and check the filters at the washer end of the hoses to make sure they are clean. I would also check the drain system to make sure it is clean and the machine is draining well.

Washing machine won't drain

It sounds like you may have some bad contacts in the timer or you may have a bad lid switch which will not allow it to go into a spin during the rinse cycles or the final spin.
