SOURCE: cd player does not work

The CD spins while the laser tries to focus on the disc, and that's how it knows a CD is in. It's not detecting the disc and so the CD stops. This could be simply dirt on the laser lens, and you could try using a cotton swab to gently wipe it off. If that doesn't take care of it, the laser assembly needs to be replaced. This unit cost about $200 or more if I recall, so it might be worth getting a repair estimate. If this were a typical cheap boombox it would be better to replace it.

SOURCE: CD changer...doesn't play...says ''no disk''

Yes Dust can cause the problem.
If you want to try cleaning the laser optics:
1. Unplug the unit and remove the cover.
2. Locate the Cd mechanism and you should see the tray where you would normally insert the disc. Look for a glass lens about 1/4 inch in diameter ( usually a blueish tint)
3. With a cotton swab dipped in a little isopropyl alcohol (any pharmacist should have it and it is very inexpensive ) Clean the lens. You do not need a lot of alcohol and any excess will quickly evaporate.
4. Put the cover back on and give it a try

SOURCE: what voltage required to power a sony subwoofer

Well all you need is original system, I got one. The voltage for the sub is about DC 15.5V-15.9V 100%. But theres another problem for me, the subwoofer is active or this only is for the led? I don't believe that you need 15V only for led, so I think it's active, it has internal AMP that uses that current.

I have an Impulse 1252xi kicker and 2 12" kicker compvt 2 ohm shallow mount subs in custom ported box. How would I hook the subs up to keep the ohms correct and get the best bass I can get.

To properly wire your 2-ohm Kicker CompVT subs in a way that maintains a 2-ohm load for your Impulse 1252xi amplifier, you can use the following wiring configurations:
Assuming each Kicker CompVT subwoofer has a 2-ohm impedance:

Wiring Configuration 1: Series-Parallel Wiring for 2-Ohm Load

  1. Connect the positive terminal of the first subwoofer to the positive terminal of the second subwoofer.
  2. Connect the negative terminal of the first subwoofer to the negative terminal of the second subwoofer.
  3. Connect the positive terminal of one of the subs to the positive terminal on the amplifier.
  4. Connect the negative terminal of the other sub to the negative terminal on the amplifier.
This configuration results in a 2-ohm load. It combines the two 2-ohm subs in series (4 ohms) and then connects them in parallel, resulting in a final 2-ohm load.

Wiring Configuration 2: Parallel Wiring for 1-Ohm Load

  1. Connect the positive terminal of each subwoofer to the positive terminal on the amplifier.
  2. Connect the negative terminal of each subwoofer to the negative terminal on the amplifier.
This configuration results in a 1-ohm load. It directly connects each 2-ohm subwoofer in parallel.

Choosing the Best Configuration:

The Impulse 1252xi amplifier is likely designed to handle a 2-ohm load without any issues. However, it's essential to check the amplifier's specifications to ensure compatibility with a 2-ohm load.
Choosing between the two configurations depends on the capability of your amplifier. If your amplifier is stable at 1-ohm, you might opt for the second configuration to maximize power. If it's not stable at 1-ohm, go with the first configuration to maintain a 2-ohm load.
Always refer to the amplifier's manual or specifications to confirm its minimum stable impedance and adjust your wiring accordingly. Incorrect impedance matching can result in damage to your amplifier or subwoofers. If you're unsure, consult with a professional car audio installer for personalized advice.

How do i connect a sub wooferto my reciever

I own 2 of these Pioneer VSX-D903S units.

The only way to hook a powered subwoofer up to a VSX-D903S is if your subwoofer is equipped with amplified/speaker level terminals on the back, in addition to the line-level input. If you only have a line-level input, do not attempt to hook it up to this receiver.

If you're lucky, and have speaker-level inputs on your powered subwoofer, you would use the amplified terminals (connect to B-channel on the receiver). DO NOT connect anything to the line-level connection.

Alternatively, you could build two unpowered subwoofers, then set the receiver's Impedance switch to LOW, then connect one enclosure to each of the "B-channel" outputs. Connect your regular left and right speakers to their corresponding "A-channel" outputs. [Impedance range: 4 Ohm minimum, 16 Ohm Maximum]

Whats a control jack on a sony SS-WG450 plug into if i'm hooking it to a JVC reciever?

That subwoofer is included in the MHC-GX450 system. I have the amp/CD/radio unit. but not the subwoofer. The control cable connects the LED on the Sub to the main unit. When the main unit detects this connection to the LED it switches on its internal subwoofer amp to drive the subwoofer.

Does the JVC receiver use a "control" circuit through its external subwoofer unit to signal that it is connected to the subwoofer? If not, you do not need to use the control jack on the
SS-WG450 to connect to the JVC receiver. Connecting the Sony subwoofer to a subwoofer output on the JVC unit may be enough. Do check the impedance required by your JVC receiver. Sony lists the SS-WG450 as having a Nominal impedance of 6 Ohms. Is this high enough for the JVC unit?

Ok i just got the sub from a sony sswg450 i want to know is there some way to hook it up to my Pioneer home Receiver

Did you get a manual with it? According to the Sony site this speaker originates in Sony MHC-GX450.

"This product bundle includes the following models:
HCD-GX450 - STEREO MINI SYSTEM
RM-SC3 - REMOTE CONTROL for Shelf Mini Systems
SSRG444 - FRONT SPEAKER FOR MHCGX450
SS-WG450 - SUBWOOFER FOR MHCGX450"

Find the manual here and learn a bit about your seprated sub...

http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/model-documents.pl?mdl=MHCGX450

See page 7.

As can be seen, the subwoofer has two connections to the mothership, very unlike the standard speaker level (+/-) speaker wire or RCA-Line-Level subwoofer out that 'normal passive or active subwoofers use, respectively.

Not knowing which of those your unspecified Pioneer receiver supports, it is impossible to say. Does your Pioneer have that control jack?

Mini-systems are generally not designed to be pieced out and used with grown-up gear. The absence of standardized connections is the clue.

Kicker l7 dvc 2 ohm wired to sony xplod xm1652z amplifier isnt pushing the sub

it is not the way how get most wattage from your amp. If it is rated to drive a 4-ohm load then it should be ok for a 4-ohm load. If it is rated for a 2-ohm load, then you should not be loading less than that impedance. I recommend a 4-ohm load.
Take note: it is the sound quality from the source that makes up all the total quality of your audio system. If you are overdriving the amps it will give distortion too.
There are many factors to consider when it comes to quality of a car sound system- speaker enclosure design, choice of speaker or driver, equalization, etc...
One more thing, try to get at least no voltage drops if you are wiring the subwoofer amp away from the car's battery.
hope this helps.

What voltage required to power a sony subwoofer

Hey,

I just got one of these units, the SONY SS-WG990.
The RCA cable is direct conection to the speaker.
It requires external AMP.
The other cable is just for the system switch and LED.
If you just have this unit, all you need is an AMP to
feed it.
