Yes the inks are very expensive, but you can have a stratégie to reduce costs. make small tests before print an A4 or A3 picture. use a calibrating device to take off the color distorsion (if not, you will have alway the same cardridge empty first, usually red or blue). be carefull of the paper type, mat or glossy, they don't need the same ink quantity (specify it in the driver).
with a color calibration, you can also use generic inks, saving 50 to 70%.
However, the r1800 is a professionnal printer and the prints costs 2 to 5$...like professionnal prints!

Throw it in the trash and buy a laser jet.
People who print a lot, and do I, would be better off buying a new printer every time I went to buy cartridges.

The printer I bought was a brother HL 3140 cdw.
~$200 at staples
The cartridges are expensive ~$200 and lasted me for a year.
I said a year!

Is it more expensive to run the central air on auto or in the on mode

Bridget, running the fan on all the time will increase air movement making you house more consistent on temp. As far as using more energy, as you stated your unit is 20 years old the fan is not a high efficiency ecm or even a pcm motor so it will use more power and hasten its demise. I would not do it unless unit is much newer and you really feel the difference.

I have a sears top load oasis that I bought in Aug of 2006.I had no problems with my washer until March of this year. I received a letter stating that I needed to have new upgrades installed in order for...

I agree with you about replacement. I'd get real firm with them and insist on it... Obviously the authorized technicians can't fix the problem. Tell them it will save them money over multiple service calls... it's cheaper to replace it. Be nice, but be insistant! Good luck on this. k

Paper jam, Is this the fuser?

I have had the same problem. Changing the fuser is easy (about $85, and must be ordered through Dell) remove the 4 screws from the back, and you'll see the fuser. 2 screws, and 2 wires, and it slides right out.

Epson stylus cx4800 won't print

Hi, reason we sell epson printers are they are the cheapest to run, but they do get alot of problems with the print heads, if you change from using refill ink kits to compatible ink cartridges you would not have to reset the chip each time, otherwise you will have to change to a more expensive to run printer like the HP, or Lexmark, lexmark is the most expensive for cartridges but it has the print heads built into the cartridge and not the printer itsself, epson only have the chip on the cartridge.
You can use the refill kits on most HP & Lexmark without having to reset the cartridge all you need to do is refill it.
but for every 3 for example you may have to buy a new cartridge which will be more expensive, ie if you get lines through your print, as the print head will probably get blocked on cartrdige.

Happy New Year

Help! Cartridge keeps going back and forth then shuts itself off

Stop your pain and replace, printhead is stuffed too expensive

Faulty cart (I assume you have relaced both with new) too expensive,

Board fault too expensive to fix.

I know you bought a new cart but you are throwing good time and money after bad, get a new one with a warranty and new inks, don't compromise product with refills, enjoy hassle free printing...

I guess that this machine has in the past had dodgy ink running in its vains and now it showing the signs of it

........but there is another possibility, printers have a thin plastic strip on them that runs the width of print area.

This strip has lines on it and the printers head reads these lines to know where it is. This strip can get dirty (usally from refilling), you could try cleaning it gently with metho and a rag

(some inkjets use disc on side of machine instead)

Won't power on

Yep, Stop buying this printer. I doesn't work. You think it might have anything to do with the outlet you are using. I'm thinking some type of power surge or short hit all three printers with the same outlet. Did you plug all three in the same outlet "first thing" when you got the printers home? Are you using a power strip? I find that kind of strange for all three having the same problem. How long did the last printer you bought work? You said it worked great with the old power cord. Plug something else in the outlet like a lamp and see if the cord gets hot. I know that doesn't sound much like a solution but you gotta try something. Printers are getting expensive. Let me know what you did. I'd like to get to the core of this problem.

White stripes evident each time the printer is started up from cold

Those solid ink machines are designed to be left on 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. (it uses about $20 in ink to turn on each time)

When turned off the printhead nozzles can get clogged up with dry ink, which causes white stripes. Running the eliminate light stripes routine purges the printhead (using another $10 or $12 in ink). When it becomes a continuous problem the printhead needs to be replaced....very expensive and time to get a new printer !
